Chuck's obituary
Chuck Helmka, 52, passed away on June 27, 2025, in Middletown, New York. Born on December 13, 1972, in Midland, Michigan, Chuck lived a life marked by dedication to his work, deep love for his family and friends, and an unrelenting passion for speed and adventure.
Chuck graduated from Lynn Vocational Technical High School in 1992. Shortly after completing his education, he enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. His time in the Navy reflected his strong sense of duty and commitment to service.
Following his military service, Chuck pursued a career as an electrical lineman. He joined the IBEW Local 104 union and became a journeyman lineman with the Reading Municipal Light Department. His work was not only a profession but also a testament to his resilience and skill—qualities that earned him respect among colleagues and peers.
Chuck had a zest for life that was impossible to ignore. He enjoyed riding anything with an engine that could go extremely fast—especially his motorcycle and snowmobile. Whether tearing through snowy trails or cruising down open roads, Chuck found joy in the thrill of motion and the freedom it brought.
He is lovingly remembered by his son Colby Helmka; stepson Russell Kimber; his fiancée Cari Compton; his mother Leann (Reilly) Olsen; his father Chuck Helmka Sr.; his brother Michael Helmka (Jennifer); nieces Avery and Emerson; nephew CJ; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his stepfather John Olsen.
Chuck’s presence lit up every room he entered. With a big personality, a huge heart, and a bright smile, he made lasting impressions on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Above all else, Chuck cherished his family and friends—they were the center of his world.
A beloved dad, son, nephew, cousin, uncle, brother, and friend—Chuck will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who carry him in their hearts. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 9, 2025, from 02:00PM to 06:00PM at Knights of Columbus 177 Lynnfield Street, Lynn, MA. Military honors will begin promptly at 2:30PM.
