Charles's obituary

Charles Harmston, 87, of Mesa, AZ, passed away on April 18, 2022 after a short battle with Uremia.

Charles was born on July 18, 1934 to Arthur and Elise Harmston in Roosevelt, UT. After graduating from Middleton High School in 1953, Charles then was called to serve as an LDS missionary in Western Canada. There, he experienced many marvels and served many people. On his return he then decided to study Agriculture at BYU in Provo , UT.

After 2 semesters, he enlisted in the United States Navy .

In 1970, Charles met his soon to be beautiful wife, Kay Ann Miller De La Fuente, and her daughter Renee De La Fuente. After a courtship for four years they wed in1974, going on to have one child, Rebecca Harmston.

Charles was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. Because of this he decided to go to medical school and became a physician. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of his family, and always tried his best to support them. Unfortunately, Kay met an untimely passing. In his saddened grief he moved forward and raised his two daughters the best he could. His daughter Rebecca noticed the saddness and loneliness he felt and pushed him out of the house to go to a church dance, where he met Margaret Caywood. They quickly fell for each other and married shortly after in 1991.

Charles was also a passionate genealogist and could often be found at the Family History Center when he wasn’t at home.

Anyone who knew Charles knew that he was the most loving and caring father and husband a family could ask for. Charles was predeceased by his parents, siblings and late wife. He is survived by wife Margaret Harmston, daughters, and son.
