Charles's obituary
Charles’s Foundation:
As a young man, Charles attended High School at Jackson County Training School. He was a student athlete, excelling academically and as a member of the boys basketball team. His skills would later land him on the team of Chipola Junior College. After graduating from Chipola Junior College, Charles traveled north to Atlantic City to broaden his opportunities. He soon enrolled in Perona Hall Trade school for Culinary Arts, where he would earn yet another diploma of completion. While integrating into Atlantic City, Charles met and fell in love with Judith Williams. Their love lead them to marry on July 16th 1973, and subsequently produced two beautiful daughters, Tina Louise Garrett and Alkanease Garrett. Creating a family of his own and having a new foundation, Charles’ cooking career “took off” and would lead to a wide array of opportunities. Charles’ work history included employment at some of Atlantic City’s most notable restaurant’s, from Dock’s Oyster House, where he worked for twenty-five years, to numerous casino’s as a lead cook. He was passionate about making delicious food, and remained so, well into his retirement.
