Charles J Dobson

November 1, 1944 – February 7, 2024

Charles “Charlie” J. Dobson, 79 of Hamlin, NY passed away suddenly and peacefully Wednesday February 7, 2024.

He will be remembered for being a loving Husband, Father (in law), Pop Pop and friend to many.

He is predeceased by his parents Charles and Margaret Dobson, brother William (Bill) Dobson and granddaughter Rachel Mineo.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Sherry J Dobson, children Kelly Dobson, Rebecca Mineo (Mark Grabell), Christopher (Erica) Dobson and grandchildren Raymond and Ryan Mineo, Alana and Carter Dobson.

Charlie was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA and graduated from Elmer L Meyers High School in 1962 and enlisted in the Air Force. He served as an Airborne Radio Operator in Rhein Main, Germany. Charlie completed many deployments throughout Europe. Following his honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1967 he completed his certification as an Air Traffic Controller. Charlie loved his over 38 year career as an Air Traffic Controller working for the FAA and the Department of Defense.

Charlie was an avid left handed golfer. His love of golf led him to organize several local golf tournaments annually. Charlie thoroughly enjoyed his retirement years golfing, spending time at his cabin, on his boat, fishing and cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events. Charlie was a tireless Philadelphia Eagles fan. He loved his family fiercely and unconditionally.

A celebration of Charlie’s life will be held Sunday March 10, 2024 1pm - 4pm at the Hamlin VFW 1739 Lake Rd Hamlin, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hamlin VFW Post 6703 1739 Lake Rd Hamlin, NY 14464
