The Hensels

Bernie and I have been friends since I moved to Ellicott City in 8th grade, and went to high school  & college together. We were good friends and I would visit the Dennison household often in the Font Hill community. Mike D. mentioned about going to the movie theater and watching numerous movies all day with his brothers and friends. One of those friends was me, and let me tell you, those were some long days in the movie theater but were good times.

Unfortunately, I lost touch with Bernie after he joined the Navy, and wished we could have kept in touch. We were good friends and had some great times together. It is very difficult to have to write this message to a dear friend, and only to hear about this sad news from a mutual friend.

My sincere condolences to his family. He truly cared for his family and friends, and will never be forgotten.

I am so saddened to hear of this loss. Bernie was good high school friend and someone we always wanted around. We were so excited to have this big athletic guy join our small private school and especially as he would play on the basketball team. He was the first center I can remember us having since I starting playing there in middle school. My senior year, Bernie was a junior, and our basketball team went 15-2 and we won a big tournament at St. Peter and Paul on the eastern shore. Bernie was a huge part of that success but whether we won or lost or how the day or year was going, we were all glad to have Bernie with us no matter what we were doing. And like so many have already said, he really did stick for everyone and I saw it many times. He will surely be missed but remembered so fondly by so, so many. My condolences to the family.
