Chuck's obituary

Charles "Chuck" Robert Chase

6.10.1949 - 01.22.2025

Chuck was born in Neenah, Wisconsin to Charles Dempsey Chase and Evelyn Roe Chase of Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Chuck grew up on Lake Winnebago, and loved fishing and boating with his family. This source of joy continued his entire life. Before leaving for college, he worked for The Chase Roofing Company, where his father was President.

He graduated from Lincoln College in Illinois and completed his education at the University of Denver with a major in hotel and restaurant management. His love for hospitality began as he became Manager of the Marriott Lincolnshire Dinner Theater in Chicago. It is here, we believe, that his handshake was perfected.

After years of a demanding work schedule, he transitioned to sales of uniforms to hotels and restaurants in the midwest. As an Account Executive his success grew, territories expanded, and new customer types were added including esteemed hospitals such as The Mayo Clinic and RUSH in Chicago.

Chuck married Sarah Lynn Cofer at First Presbyterian Church in Wheaton on May 15, 2004 with Doug Brouwer officiating. Both shared a love of dachshunds, dancing (combined on special occasions), and travel. With this marriage Chuck secured a stepson, Stewart "Stew" Cofer, with whom he quickly bonded over "rat pack" era music, food, and their delight in Sarah Lynn.

Chuck was a member of First Presbyterian Church Glen Ellyn for many years, where he served as an usher, deacon, and faithful member of the choir.

Remaining to cherish Chuck’s memory are his wife Sarah Lynn Cofer-Chase, Stew Cofer and wife Bethany Cofer, and all the lives he touched.

His love for life and fun brought joy to all he met, living as a kind-hearted gentleman in every situation.
