Charles "Chappy" Edgar Chappelear, 66, passed away unexpectedly on April 16, 2022.
Chappy was born on August 5, 1955 to Fred and Dorothy Chappelear on Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. He was a graduate of Farmville Central High School and East Carolina University. Chappy joined the United States Air Force in 1978 as a 2LT and retired in 1994 at the rank of Major. He was stationed at Tinker AFB OK, Williams AFB AZ, Cheyenne Mountain CO, Geilenkirchen Germany, Langley AFB VA, Iceland, then back to Tinker AFB OK where he retired. During his military careet he served in Operation Desert Shield/Storm from August 1990-July 1994.
He met his future wife, Donna Burcham, while stationed at Tinker AFB OK in 1979. They were married on July 12, 1980. They were blessed with two sons, Michael was born in 1983 in Colorado and Matthew in 1986 in The Netherlands.
After his retirement from the AF, he was an agent for USPA & IRA as a financial planner, an insurance agent, an instructor for Brattle Systems, and a contractor/instructor at FAA. In 2012, he and his two sons, became owners of their family hardware store, Chap & Sons, in Fort Cobb OK. He was in this business until the time of his death.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Fred Chappelear and his sister-in-law, Jaymie Ross.
He is survived by his wife Donna of the home; his sons Michael Chappelear (wife Dawn) and Matthew Chappelear; special "family" members Jeff, Heather and Elizabeth Bailey, all of Fort Cobb OK. He is also survived by his mother Dorothy Chappelear of Greenville NC, sister Lynn Watson of Farmville NC, mother-in-law Loretta McCoy of Yukon OK, father-in-law James Burcham (Nancy) of Newcastle OK, sisters-in-laws and husband's, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
He was interred with Military Honors at Fort Sill National Cemetery in Elgin OK.
