Charles's obituary
Charles E "Chuck" Barlow - September 28, 1934 - January 1, 2023 of Parkville, Missouri. Chuck was born in Decatur, Nebraska to Gladys Marguerite (Phalen) and Charles Thomas Barlow. He grew up in Sharpsburg and Lenox, lowa; playing all sports available,but loved golf.
He attended Drake University in Des Moines for a year then graduated from the University of lowa in 1958. He was a member of the Alpa Tau Omega fraternity. He grew up in a small rural farming community and learned how to work hard and play hard. He had a quick wit that was hard to keep up with and was a great mentor.
He spent his career working for Connecticut General/CIGNA in Des Moines then in Kansas City. He also worked for Principal Financial Group. He was a CLU, ChFC, and CFP.
He was a member of Leawood South Country Club, serving as President in 1980. He was also a member of Rancho Viejo Country Club in Rancho Viejo, Texas.
He is predeceased by his parents, his sister, Charlene Barlow Soper of Fox River Grove, IL and his son Charles M. Barlow of Merriam, Kansas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Cricket, his daughter Andrea Pawlowski (Tom) of Lansing, KS, son Shawn K. Barlow of Bonner Springs, KS and brother John Barlow (Dorcas) of Cherokee, IA. Grandchildren Clifford Nelson (Danielle) of Flower Mound, TX, Christopher Nelson of Overland Park, KS, Katie Payne (Michael) of Ozark, MO and Cassandra Kay (Grady) of Lenexa, KS and 4 great grandchildren: Miranda, Matthew, Jace and Zander Payne. Cousin Patty Richardson of AZ/CO, sisters-in-law Brenda Guymon and Linda Freeman of Gladstone, MO and brother-in-law Ron Currey (Kathy) of Blue Springs, MO and other family and friends.
