Charles's obituary

Charles H. Anneke, 78, passed away peacefully in his home in West Covina, CA, on Sept. 13, 2023.

Chuck was born on Oct. 24, 1944, in Pasadena, CA, to Victor H. Anneke and Betty M. Anneke. He was raised in Duluth, MN, and grew up playing baseball and football in high school and closely followed the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Los Angeles Lakers. In 1962, he graduated from Duluth East High School. After, he attended the University of Minnesota - Duluth, graduating in 1968 with a B.A. in business. While at UMD, he joined the Army Reserve to fulfill his military obligation.

Chuck married Camilla Olson in September 1968 and moved to West Covina, CA, in 1972. They had two daughters, Alicia Lawson Oberg and Kristen Lawson, and later divorced. He remarried in 1983 to Linda Lucarelli-Parsons, and they later divorced in 2001.

Chuck cherished his many friends, both in the Los Angeles area and back in Minnesota. He enjoyed spending time with them and just talking about most anything. He loved humor and was always injecting his into his conversations. He also loved to travel in California and throughout the southwest and would occasionally drop in to the local casino and try his luck. He looked forward to traveling back to Minnesota each year to visit family and friends until travel became too difficult for him.

Chuck made his living marketing paper packaging products used for shipping. He retired in 2015 after nearly 45 years. However, his passion in life was his daughters and his grandchildren.

He is survived by his two daughters, Alicia Lawson Oberg (Kristian) of Anaheim Hills, CA, and Kristen Lawson of Lakewood, CA; his grandchildren, Addison and Mason Oberg and Jackson Lawson; his brother, Richard Anneke (Lori) of Rochester, MN; and his sister, Susan Anneke Akervik of Cottage Grove, MN. He is preceded in death by his father, Victor H. Anneke, and mother, Betty M. Anneke.

A Celebration of Life memorial for Chuck will be planned for close friends and relatives next year in Lake Tahoe.
