We, Dick, Don and brother Bob were looking for a week long hike. Chuck convinced us to do the Elwha River trail and Bailey Range cross country. When on the Bailey we were beyond our skill level in snow fields. We lost our way due to poor maps, and decided that we needed a way off the ridge back to the Elwha. Our old maps showed us an old trail. Half a day bush whacking led to the unmaintained trail, finally leading to the Elwha and later a foot bridge across. This adventure, thanks to Chuck's advice, led me to annual long hikes, and 12 years of Scout hiking. My friends and I met Chuck and his group in 1998 while they were staying in Queets Basin. They planned to do the Bailey one last time but elected to return via the Elwha River trail. We went on to do the Bailey. 5 climbs of Mt. Rainer, 12 years of Scouting hikes,
The Obregon Family sends condolences and prayers. Uncle Chuck will always be remembered fondly. We are so grateful to have visited him a couple of years ago in Tacoma and we will cherish his beautiful photos forever! May you Rest In Peace, Uncle Chuckπππ
I will always treasure the talks and letters I had with Uncle Chuck. So grateful for the wisdom he shared to help with my own photography endeavors. His memory lives on in his photos I have on my walls, to which I always smile when I look at the beauty of nature through his lens.
