Background
Charito Hayag Hicks, daughter of Generosa and Julian Hayag, was born on June 9, 1952, in Mindoro, Philippines. She departed this life on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband, Johnny Hicks; children, Sean (Angela), ERodney and Joseph (Darnika); grandchildren, Sheaka, Seantel, Ny’kobe, Ja’Sean, Amber, Jo’Niya, and Tashaun; great grandchildren Tyree, Kingsten, Kaisen, Ka’Dir, Au’Sha; sisters Soledad and Malou; brother Julian Jr.; nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of loving and supportive family and friends.
Charito moved to the United States at 17 years old as a young wife and mother, learned to speak English without formal education, and worked tirelessly to provide for her boys. She settled in Jonesboro, GA many years ago and never returned home; however, it was her dying wish to have her ashes scattered on the island of Mindoro where she was born.
The family is committed to fulfilling her last wishes. In lieu of flowers, consider donating to the Charito Hayag Hicks Memorial Fund which will be used for funeral expenses and her return trip home to her final resting place. The family extends a heartfelt thanks for your support during this difficult time. Contribute
