I feel fortunate to have met my good friend, Neeta’s father before his passing.  We met at Alex & Skylar’s wedding.  He was full of joy! What a blessed life he had and how wonderful to have all the memories of a life well lived. My sympathies for your loss.

So terribly sorry to hear of his passing. He was a gracious Man and loved seeing his grandchildren’s accomplishments. I will always remember his appreciation of Alex and Philip’s piano studies. My deepest sympathy to the entire family.

Sam, Arti, Shaan and Simon,

God bless you and your family. Dr Patel is a great man. As I have expressed to Sam over these past few  weeks over the holidays—all men should strive to be the great man he is and will always be. While he has passed and is no longer suffering, his presence is with us now, each and every day and will be with your family and friends for so many generations to come.

Some of my most incredible memories and gifts that I have from my time with Dr. Patel include:

•after ARVO in Fort Lauderdale, an annual retina scientific and clinical conference there, I was fortunate to be invited to his home for the most incredible homemade Indian food while Sam and I watched the Patriots draft that April.  On that particular day, I felt blessed, honestly he and Mrs. Patel made me felt like I was also his son because of how he made me feel.  Such a special memory

•after the incredible ALCS Game in Fenway Park in 2013, when Big Papi hit the most unthinkable grand slam and we won a miracle game.  After the game when on Yawkey Way with my family in a sea of celebrating Red Sox fans, god gave me the gift of seeing Dr and Mrs. Patel and having an opportunity to celebrate yet another iconic Boston Sports moment with him!

•Jonathan and I were in south Florida in 2017 playing golf with friends. When Dr. Patel learned we were in the area, he and Mrs. Patel insisted on taking us to dinner that evening and having us sleep over in their beautiful home before flying out back to Boston…another “like my parents” moment and they made Jonathan feel so special that night.

•The last selfless gift Dr. Patel gave me was on video, lying in bed and wishing me a Merry Christmas less than two weeks ago—despite all of his was battling, with so much strength and courage—all he wanted to do was give and care for others.

I am really overwhelmed with sadness at his passing, relief that he is no longer suffering, and grateful that such an amazing man who meant so much to so many, made the time to touch my life in such a meaningful, positive and long lasting way ❤️❤️❤️

God Bless,

David, Terrie, Jonathan, Nick and Jack Hallal

I remember Dr. Patel fondly over the years through my dear friend Neeta, his loving daughter. As a bridesmaid at her wedding, he delighted in seeing me in full sari outfit. I was so happy to see him again this past year at another Patel/Desmeulenaere wedding! I will remember him fondly, and extend the heartfelt condolences of the Weinstein Karp family to all Patels and relatives. Much love.
When I first met Dr Patel when I was in medical school, I encountered a physician whom I have since tried to emulate: kind, intelligent, loving, welcoming, and with a frequent and easy smile. Few physicians I have met since have impacted me more. Rest in peace, Dr. Patel, and thank you.
I was sad to hear the news of Dr. Patel’s passing. Our heartfelt condolences to the family. I have fond memories of Dr Patel in Musoma and all the ways he tried to coax me to take my medicine when I was sick and visited him with my mum (Roshan Sadrudin Habib) at his clinic. I later visited him in Andover where he and Naleeniben (as we called her) happily welcomed me for afternoon tea at their home.
Please accept our heartfelt condolences to the entire family.  With our love and respect, Sonia, Rama, Simryn and Sean Jager

It was not long ago that I embarked on my journey in medical school, where fate intertwined my path with that of Chandrakant, a dedicated student in his final year of MBBS at Ahmedabad's BJ Medical College. Our shared passion for cricket ignited a beautiful friendship, beginning in 1956, as we ventured forth into a world filled with dreams and camaraderie.

Together, we soared to the finals of the inter-medical cricket competition in the erstwhile Bombay state, just before its division into Gujarat and Maharashtra. In a spirited match against the GMC of Bombay in Poona, our bond deepened, with Chandrakant stepping forward as the Cricket Secretary, orchestrating our journey with enthusiasm and serving as a vibrant cheerleader. He mastered the art of uplifting others, and through teamwork, we basked in the glory of our victory, creating memories filled with joy and pride.

Time passed, and though we lost touch, our fates converged once more in Massachusetts. Our friendships blossomed anew, intertwining with the fabric of our families and professions. Naliniben and Kokila became cherished companions, enriching our lives with their warmth. Together, the four of us immersed ourselves in social, political, and professional gatherings, nurturing a community that felt like an extended family, bound by shared experiences and aspirations.

One of the most remarkable qualities of my dear friend Chandrakant was his unwavering generosity—the art of giving with a smile and pride that truly embodied the essence of a Saatvik soul, reminiscent of the teachings of Lord Krishna in the Gita. As captured in Bhgavad Gita Chapter 17.20:

दातव्यमिति यद्दानं दीयतेऽनुपकारिणे | देशे काले च पात्रे च तद्दानं सात्त्विकं स्मृतम् || 20||

"Charity given to a worthy person simply because it is right to give, without consideration of anything in return, at the proper time and in the proper place, is stated to be in the mode of goodness."

Chandrakant's life stands as an inspiring testament to the idea that there exists something greater than ourselves. He taught us to embrace love, honor, and respect for others without expectation, forging connections that transcend the ordinary.

As we cherish the memories of families, friends, and him, we recognize that his spirit will forever guide us. “There is something to life—Equanimity and oneness.” Let us take a moment to thank that spirit, celebrating the profound impact he has left on our hearts, and carry forward the legacy of kindness and unity that he embodied.

We will miss Chandrakantuncle so much. He always had a smile on his face and was endlessly positive.  His warmth, laughter and kindness would make us all feel loved.  Sending love to Naliniauntie, Neeta, Samir, Arti, Gilles and the Patel families.
