I was lucky enough to work alongside Chakra at Spiritridge Elementary beginning in early 2022. It was just three of us educators most days and we all quickly became good friends. In the short time I knew him, Chakra made a lasting impact on me. One morning before program began we sat together and drew pictures, chatted about music and his interest in science. This led him to show me some photographs he had captured on a telescope. I remember this morning fondly. His passion and knowledge of astronomy and science in general stuck with me. He often led science related activities for the kids during the program. You could see his face light up as the kids asked him questions and he offered explanations which fueled their interests. Anyone could tell how passionate Chakra was. Now when I look up at the sky, I remember him and his amazement for the cosmos. I remember his curiosity, kindness, humor and positive attitude. I remember him as my friend. I send well wishes to his friends, family and loved ones today and always.

I was a Senior in high school when I met Chakra. I was interning at Mauna Kea. I had a love for astronomy but had very little knowledge compared to him. Though he wasn't MY mentor, he taught almost EVERYTHING I currently know in astronomy, from science facts about objects in the sky to multiple legends and stories from various cultures. He taught really cool things like, how to operate the big electronic telescopes to taking beautiful pictures of objects in the sky. I always remember seeing his marvelous photos on display. He would often drive me back to Hilo from the mountain and during the long late night drives at close to midnight, we'd either cruise and listen to his chill instrumental music or we'd just talk about life. There were times where he would get caught by the speed tracker in the vans and get in trouble for speeding and wouldn't be allowed to drive for a week or so. After graduating, I stopped interning at Mauna Kea, and regretfully didn't keep in touch. Just before typing this, I was gonna try to reach back out to him and I found this :( You may not be with us anymore Chakra, but your memory and everything you've left behind for us will live on. Aloha. wish I got better pics with you.

I just heard about Chakra's passing and am greatly saddened. I worked with Chakra on Maunakea in 2017 and 2018 and was always impressed with his passion and knowledge of astronomy. It was a pleasure to hear his star tour inspiring visitors from near and far to the wonders of the mountain and the infinite cosmos above. He was a good young man, a bright light, and his spirit is missed. May his soul rest in the heavens as it twinkles forever brightly for all of us to remember. Eternal blessings to Chakra and his family.

Chakra was an amazing friend and coworker. I remember him on the Mauna, all the passion and drive. I'll forever cherish that road trip we took to see the solar eclipse in Wyoming together. So many good memories.
Love you, dude. Miss you a ton.

Chakra was always so eager to succeed, we knew him through Magic the Gathering, the card game - but his persistence, enthusiasm, and goals were always so inspiring. He (and of course Vikram and Jahnu) were there to do the best he could, and our little community there in Hilo wouldn't have been nearly as great with him. Every enthusiastic person mattered and was part of the team. While those days ended years ago, it's such a loss to the world to lose Chakra. We'll miss you!
