Cedric with nephews — with Eric, Rod and Mike

I was truly surprised to hear of Cedric's passing. Receiving the call as the next of kin is never easy, especially when it’s unexpected. I often think back to our recent conversations, wondering who would be notified, as many of his friends and local connections have transitioned. However he said, we would be notified. What he predicted has come to pass. I’m grateful to his goddaughter Coretta and Ms. Beverly for reaching out during this time making sure that we were aware.

I want to thank my mommy, Jerri, my sister Stacey, Auntie Regina (Uncle Ty’s  wife- (RIP uncle TY who we lost last year), and cousins Eric, Melba, and Rod, as well as the Florida family—Denise, Tiffany, and Caroline—and Alex & wife in Kenya, for their support in bringing everything together as one family. A shout out to My late Brother Mike also his connection to -Dublin 2021-23 is why Unc Ced relation

“Hey lil Rabbit, everything copasetic??!” I’ll always hear Uncle Ced’s famous words to me in our conversations. You will be deeply missed, Unc! I am thankful and honored for the historical family facts you shared with me; I know so much more now because of you. I learned about your love for bird watching and agriculture, and I got to hear the stories that made you a proud Georgia man, a fun-loving, possum-eating, rifle-hunting Free Mason. Those stories are truly priceless!

As we discussed, I will return to our family land during planting season. I will plant my feet in that soil and give thanks to our ancestors and our Father God.

Now it’s time to create a legacy and make moves that will be remembered—something we can all take pride in! I wish we had more time together. Rest in peace, Uncle.

With love,

Candace W. Adams
