My late condolences. Cecilia was a good boss at NMAA/NPG when I worked for her in 1982-1984. She could be demanding, but in a way that got the best out of her employees. RIP

As the eldest of her siblings, she is always responsible, unselfish, and a leader!  I will forever remember it and admire her.

Dear Friends,  While I didn't know Cecilia very well, I do clearly remember her devotion to public service and the pursuit of knowledge.  Our association was through the Docent Program at the National Museum of Asian Art where we were both volunteers.  Cecilia managed our docent reference library keeping it organized and accessible.   She undoubtedly took great pride in sharing her knowledge and love of Asian art with others.  Cecilia was a quiet person who preferred contemplation to noisy agendas. Like the Chinese scholars so often depicted in landscape paintings, Cecilia walked the path.

I am an old, old friend of Cecilia.  We knew each other since Junior High in The First Provincial Girls' High school i n Taipei, Taiwan.  I remember that once she invited a group of us to her home. Together we made Seafood Pie  (海鮮餡餅)from scratch。It was a lot of fun!

After we graduated from National Taiwan University, we came to the United States to continue our graduate studies.  At that time, Library Science was one of the hottest field to be considered.  Cecilia was admitted to the Library School in University of Illinois, and I was admitted in  the University of Wisconsin.  When I got married in  1962, she was one of the few friends who could attend my wedding.

Then, we both worked in  Chicago!  Since I was the first who had a home in Chicago,  many old friends, and  classmates who passed Chicago to continue their journeys to various parts of the US, would stay in my humble house. I always invited Cecilia to join us in those gatherings!

In 1983, I was lucky enough to get an offer from the Library of Congress! At that time,  Cecilia had an appartment in DC, I stayed with her while working in  the LC during the weekdays, and trying hard to find a place for my family during the weekends!

In 1989, I got an offer from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. I worked there for more than12 years.  That was a brand new university,  I was the first one to report to work in  the Library.  The workload was hectic. As a result, I lost contacts with many old friends  in the US!
