Cecile's obituary
Cecile Evelyn Donnay (Cec), was born in Muncie Indiana on July 27th, 1946, and passed peacefully with her daughter at her side at Crestview Lutheran Home on November 2nd, 2023. Cecile was preceded in death by her parents Buford and Nelly Dunn, and her former husband James A. Donnay. She is also preceded in death by her brothers Tom and Dick Dunn (wife Sue), and sisters Helen Heath (husband Eugene), and Phillis Jennings (husband Donald). Cecile is survived by her younger sister Margaret Engvall (husband Gary), and her daughter Jennelle Donnay (partner Mike Dinsmore), and many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt “Cecil” dearly.
Cecile graduated from Muncie Central High School in the class of 1964. Throughout her life she was a member of First Baptist Church of Muncie IN, North St Paul Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of White Bear Lake, and Roseville Covenant. Cecile was a member of the Job's Daughters Sorority. She studied education at Bethel University of MN, Ball State University of IN, and got her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education at the University of Minnesota. Cecile worked as a financial controller at Minuti Ogle from 1971-1993. She ran her own accounting firm at CED Accounting from 1984-2001. She also worked as Vice President of Finance at Home Hospital from 1994-1997.
Cecile lived a full life filled with many hobbies which included gardening, cooking, sewing, playing golf, tennis, bowling, playing scrabble, painting and doing puzzles and crafts. Cecile played piano, classical guitar and the viola. Cecile enjoyed teaching, working with computers and technology, playing games and visiting with friends, and played an active role in her church which included Bible study, singing in the church choir, and volunteering to help mentor in the youth programs and plays. Cec enjoyed rescuing and adopting her many beloved cats throughout the years. Cec’s greatest joy was being a Mom and raising her daughter Jennelle.
A Celebration of Life service for Cec will be held on Friday, June 28th at North Haven Church at 2240 15th Ave E. Saint Paul, MN 55109. Visitation will start at noon, Memorial service at 1:00pm, followed by a lunch reception at the church.
