Caylee's obituary
Caylee Michelle Dugger was called home to be with Jesus on Thursday, February 2, 2023.
Caylee was born to Andre and Sarah Dugger on December 6, 1992 in Arlington, TX. She was their first daughter, and has been and always will be her Daddy’s first “princess”.
For the first four years of her life, Caylee lived with her family in Alba, TX. In February of 1997, she moved to Pleasant View, TN where she would spend the remainder of her formative years. Throughout childhood, Caylee enjoyed a lot of different activities. From a young age she had a passion for reading books and through that became quite the story teller and writer herself. She loved to come up with different stories for her younger siblings, and tell them with her various accents. She also played sports and took an interest in hunting. One of Caylee’s favorite memories was going on a hunting trip with her Daddy Jack, where she killed her first deer. She was incredibly proud and she enjoyed her time with her Daddy Jack and Momma Lou so much.
Through Middle School and High School, Caylee’s interests turned to the arts almost exclusively. She had a passion for film, music and the theatre. She did not simply enjoy watching those things, she loved to participate in them as much as she could. She began acting, writing play and movie screenplays, and writing and performing her own songs as well. Caylee was extremely gifted in the area of writing, and people have been blessed by her writings since she was young. Throughout Middle and High School, she was homeschooled and her mother was her primary educator. She graduated from Aaron Academy in May of 2011. Following high school, Caylee enrolled at Union University. While at Union, she was involved in the theatre, music and psychology departments. She graduated from Union University with a degree in Psychology in May of 2016.
Upon graduating from Union, Caylee continued to grow in her passion for mission work. She became involved various mission organizations and spent portions of her life overseas, directly involved with bringing the Gospel to every nation. She had many different jobs, and ended up settling in Kansas City, Kansas in 2018. She spent her years in Kansas City heavily involved in different churches, parachurch organizations, with her friends, and at coffee shops all over. She was particularly proud to be a part of the team at Vested Coffee in Kansas City, and loved the opportunity to meet strangers and share the love of Christ with them. It was in these final years that Caylee really developed a deep love for Adventure. She would travel anywhere, camp anywhere, hike anything. She loved paddle boarding and scuba diving. If you knew Caylee, you knew that she was always looking for her next great adventure.
It was also in these years that Caylee developed a strong passion for studying Theology in order to deepen her relationship with Jesus Christ. She enrolled at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in August of 2020, and will posthumously be granted her Master of Theology in May of 2023. During her time at Midwestern, Caylee also took the Director of Youth Ministry position at First Baptist Church, North Kansas City where she has served faithfully for the last year and a half.
To summarize Caylee’s life, she came to saving faith in Jesus Christ at a very young age, and spent the rest of her life seeking to follow wherever God led her. That journey was different from most people’s journey, but it was one that she loved and was so grateful for. Caylee had no shortage of experiences during her time on this earth, and she made an impact on everyone she encountered. From the countless kids who will grow up remembering her as their nanny, to the coffee shops she worked at, to the classmates and professors she ministered to, to the people she led to Christ. Caylee lived her life well to the Glory of God.
Caylee was preceded in death by her Grandfather Wilburn Dugger, her Grandmother Jo Yvonne (Hootie) Dugger, both who she never got to meet on earth but has now met in Heaven, her cousin Zane Dugger, her Daddy Jack (Jack Barron) and her Poppy (John Bowlin). She is survived by her parents; Andre and Sarah Dugger, her grandmothers; Lou Barron, and Shelba Dean Bowlin; her siblings; John, Joshua (Tiffany, nephew Haziah, niece Alena), Joseph (Audrey, nephew Jack), James, and Caitlyn; and her numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Please be in prayer for our family. Caylee loves the Lord so much and she is now with Him, embraced in His loving arms.
