I first met Cathy at the train station in Montpelier. She was waiting for me and my son arriving on the train from NYC. It was windy and snowy. I carried Amos as we looked out for this new person in the near dark. "Just like Dr. Zhivago!"

Cathy later said to my  brother Geoffrey. Cathy's voice was rich and and warm and I quickly felt grateful to have her close by as we drove off.

We stayed with Cathy, Ethan, Julia and my brother for 2 months or more until we moved to Burlington. Cathy shared her kitchen and home easily with me. I borrowed her sweaters and Amos was welcomed by her children. We had many good times together, including when Cathy put  a metal fire pole through the living room floor to the basement playroom. That was a "no brainer" idea to Cathy.

Cathy had a kind and smart matter-of-factness about her which I cherished and which carried the show. Her generosity to others was vast. I'm very thankful to have known her over a long time. I'll remember her insights, energy and courage  and will always hold memories of her near and dear.

Julia & Ethan,
I am so very sorry for loss. Your mother’s energy for life and capacity for love were unequalled by anyone I’ve known. She touched my life in more ways than I can say— for which I will always be thankful. I will miss her presence in the world, which was a better place because of her.
Love and warm wishes to you both,
Geoffrey

I’ll always remember Cathy’s big swaying hug; wide smile and absolute joy in life. I hope you’re memories bring you comfort. She was never happier than when she spoke of her children & grandchildren! We’ll plant a tree in Barton to keep her with us- N.

So sad to hear of Cathy’s passing. She always had a smile to remember.
Ethan and Julia, my deepest condolences on the heaviness of your families loss. I spent an afternoon with you mom in early march of 2016 when she first retired in Barton, by Tuesday evening she agreed to use her live skills to help our small community as a Trustee. Her life in finance seemed to put her in the right place at a needed time. We spent many late nights working together for the next four years and she always had a an amazing attitude and shared her wealth of knowledge. The Barton community is a better place because of her. She always told Tin and I that she enjoyed working with us even at 10pm but at the end of late nights we always took some extra time to share a family story so in a sense we actually know a few thinks about the you and your children. (Sorry) She loved you all dearly and we loved her. There are few people that burn their imprint into others. She will be one of mine.
Nate

This is heartbreaking.  Cathy and I were best friends all through grade school, middle and high school, beginning in first grade.  Soooo many memories… riding bikes, going to church, fishing, dances, Blue Birds.  I could go on and on.  I’m so thankful she came to our last class reunion and we were able to be together with our other two school friends.  My love to her family.

Ethan, Julia and families we are truly saddened to learn of Cathy's passing and want you to know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers. After Cathy left to build a new home closer to family last fall, we spoke often of how much we really appreciated having her as our neighbor on Crystal Lake over the past seven years. As this year's warm weather approaches, we were thinking about how we were going to miss her, T-bone and Sundance this summer. Our hearts are sad at the news but we are reflecting on what a wonderful neighbor and friend she was to us, how she inspired us with her love of family, her many talents, and the incredible drive and energy she put into everything she did. Please accept our sincere condolences on your loss and our love , Tom & Estelle.

My heart goes out the the family. Julia is an old, dear and very special friend to me.

I will say that to me, Cathy was one of those people that lit up a room.  She was always smiling and she gave off this very natural, calm and cool vibe.  She always very welcoming.  She was a true light!

Dear Julia and Ethan, So sorry to hear of your mothers passing. Take good care of each other and know that Cathy will be loved and missed by many of us!
Thinking of you all! We are so thankful for all of our time at Grandma C’s house on the lake. She treated us like her own children and loved our girls as much as they loved her❤️
Keep living every moment to its fullest, just like she did.
Sincerest condolences,
Barbara
