Cathy's obituary

It is with sincere sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Cathy McDonald on April 18, 2026. Gone too soon and a little over two weeks after her husband Earl, of almost fifty years, passed on March 30th. We are thankful that they are together again as they loved each other so much.  Cathy, born on August 3, 1953, was a caring, loving, creative, and selfless grandmother, mother, and wife.

Her greatest joy and accomplishment in life were her son, Nicholas McDonald (wife Gina) and daughter, Jennette Crum (husband Nathan), and her grandchildren, Liam and Marcus. They brought her immense pride and happiness, and they inherited her kindness, generosity, and, most of all, her zest for the good things in life like desserts. Cathy always reminded them to look for the positive in every situation, a lesson they cherish and continue to live by.

An ardent lover of nature, Cathy enjoyed spending her free time gardening, sewing, and playing with her beloved dog Ivy. Her love for baking and cooking was unmatched, leading to beautiful memories, savory meals, and cherished family moments around the table. Earl and Cathy enjoyed excellent wine and fine dining in their travels during retirement.

Cathy was a woman of remarkable intelligence and determination. With a degree in biology and chemistry, she made the selfless decision to set aside her career to start a family. Later in life, she dedicated her skills to managing computers and software for the school district until her retirement, further proving her desire to contribute positively to her community.

Cathy McDonald leaves a legacy of kindness and generosity that will continue to thrive through her children and grandchildren. Her exceptional journey in life will be a source of inspiration and an everlasting light for her family and the many lives she touched. Please spread kindness in honor of Cathy and donate to a cause that you care about.
