Cathy's obituary
Cathy Hickman, a bright beacon of joy and love, was born on September 22, 1954, and passed away on July 31, 2024. Cathy was a woman of great character, marked by her cheerful spirit, fun-loving nature, caring heart, and encouraging demeanor. Unforgettable and dearly loved, her memory continues to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew her.
Her greatest accomplishments were, without a doubt, her two adored daughters Carrie Murphy and Sara Egan. Her role as a mother was one she cherished deeply, and her love for her family was a testament to her kind, nurturing spirit. She instilled in them profound lessons that shaped their lives: to share joy and kindness with those around them; to believe that they could accomplish anything they set their minds to; and to always trust in the Lord with all their hearts, leaning not on their own understanding.
In addition to her daughters, Cathy is survived by her loving mother Barbara Caperton, her caring partner Jay Hickman, her supportive brother Glenn Caperton and his wife, Diane; sons-in-law Scott and Colin and grandsons Kellen, Brooks and Corbin. She is preceded by her father Don Caperton. Cathy’s legacy of joy and love lives on in the lives of her daughters and all who had the privilege to know her.
A Celebration of Life ceremony for Cathy will be held on August 16, 2024, at 10:30 AM at 121 Community Church. This gathering will be an occasion to honor and remember Cathy’s vibrant life, her loving spirit, and her profound impact on those around her. We encourage guests to wear colorful clothing as a celebration of the bright life that she lived.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up to bless those in hospice care and their families with gifts to provide a light during a dark time as Cathy always did. Contributions can be made at https://everloved.com/life-of…. This initiative is in line with Cathy’s caring nature and her desire to help others, a testament to her enduring spirit of generosity and kindness.
Though Cathy’s earthly journey has concluded, her spirit and the mark she left on this world remains timeless. She will be remembered for the love and joy she shared generously, influencing and uplifting all those who crossed her path.
