Cathy "Cat" Cahaney (Chekaway) passed away peacefully in Beaumont Hospital on December 30, 2019 in Royal Oak, MI at the age of 62.

Cat was a loving mother to Alec (Katherine), dear sister to Cindy (Samuel), and loving aunt to Megan (Eric) and Matthew. Cat is preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Matthew and her parents Alexander and Florence.

Cat was a creative individual who enjoyed coloring her world with a palate of bright hues. She also took great joy in planning and hosting events for many family or community occasions. Whatever role was presented, she would happily accept the responsibility of creating an experience for all to enjoy.

Cat and her Husband opened a small business in Clawson, A Step Outside of the Box in 2006. Combining her areas of expertise, she designed a unique event hosting experience specializing in girls birthday parties. Cat took great pride in the abilities of the storefront, but even more so in the accomplishments of the girls who worked for her.

A service is planned for February 15 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lake Orion and a private committal service will be held in April when Cat will be reunited with her husband at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
