Cathryn's obituary

Cathryn Marie Bond-Perretti

July 5, 1956 - October 17, 2021

Our dear Cathryn Marie Bond-Perretti left us on October 17, 2021 to join the love of her life, John Perretti in Heaven, who predeceased her 6 months earlier, as well as her Mother, Ellen Pinn, and Grandfather, Victor “Pops” Francovich.

Born July 5, 1956, and just 65 years young, Cathryn spent the Saturday prior at a much anticipated Fundraiser/Gala, with her dear friends from the Domocratic Party of Saint Augustine. She saw friends, enjoyed her favorite Jazz band and had a wonderful evening. She took ill after the party and sadly never recovered. She passed peacefully with family at her side at Flagler Hospital from a hernia then sepsis.

Cathryn was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, cousin, and friend to many. She left an indelible mark on this world through her art, gardening, music, love of everything Italian (fondly nicknamed ‘Katerina’ by many), world travel and democratic advocacy and activism.

She loved her three ‘girls’, Jen Sherman (Dave), Jamie Williams, and Jill Martay (Drew), with all her heart and called her four grandchildren, Max Sherman (16), Hayden Martay (12), Matthew Williams (10) and Logan Martay (10) the “light of her life”. She never missed sending special goodie bags, gift baskets or treats for birthdays or holidays, and took so much pride in her handmade cards or creatively wrapping hand-picked treasures.

Born in Connecticut, She spent her earliest years in the Bayview Beach in Milford CT with her oldest friend Kristin Dunn Morley, and later attended public grammar at Hall School Bridgeport. Cathryn later settled in Milford and continued her schooling until she left for her beloved City by the Bay. She attended the Art Academy in San Francisco and lived for several years in the heart of the North Beach section and formed friendships to last throughout her lifetime.

Her art pedigree led her to a career in design with Union Pen and Readers Digest in the New York Area. Cathryn retired to Florida with her husband John, where she worked at an Art Gallery at the Casa Monica Hotel in St. Augustine and part-time with Chico’s for many years. She had the opportunity to have a front row seat in seeing her eldest grandchild, Max, grow up, play football, drive a car and even work at her local grocery store. She stayed in close contact with her “girls” and grandchildren both through visits and weekly FaceTime calls. Her wide net of friends continued to grow, especially in her final years, through her dedication to the Democratic Party of Saint Augustine.

Over the last six months after her husband, John, passed away, Cathryn was carried and loved by so many - through meal trains, texts, phone calls, visits and more. It filled her heart to be in touch with so many important people in her and John’s lives. She passed peacefully with a heart so full of love and gratitude. She is missed everyday by so many.
