Cathie's obituary
Cathie Gay Arrandale passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, September 2, 2022 at the age of 75. Cathie was born on May 5, 1947 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri to Harold and Mary (Evans) Anthony. Cathie grew up in Ferguson, Missouri, right next door to her lifelong best friend, Mariellen Schwartz. Cathie graduated from McCluer High School in Ferguson in 1965.
On January 28, 1967, Cathie married Bill Arrandale, and together they had two sons, John and Ted. Bill and Cathie made Grandview their home in 1968. Cathie worked several secretarial jobs, including serving as the Office Manager of ReDiscover Mental Health, where she worked for over 30 years. She was known for her great sense of humor and genuine kindness.
Cathie enjoyed reading, sewing, quilting, and rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs. In her earlier years, she was an avid Bridge player. Cathie took great delight in being a grandma, and she went to countless sporting events, band concerts, and gymnastic meets to watch her grandchildren.
Cathie was preceded in death by her father Harold, mother Mary, and sister Jane. She is survived by her husband Bill, son John (Jennifer) Arrandale, son Ted Arrandale, and grandchildren Sam, Kyan, Jack, and Madison Arrandale. She is also survived by her stepdaughter Troy (Bob) Arrandale, stepson Jeff (Linda) Arrandale, stepdaughter Michael Lynn Arrandale, grandchildren Heather (Bobby) Kueber, Eric (Gabby) Townsend, Cole (Ashley) Summy, Bailey (Tyson) Minella, and great-grandchildren Hayden, Katelynne, and Amanda Kueber, Desirae Townsend, Chloe and Gio Summy, and brand-new addition Margaret Jo Minella. Cathie also leaves behind her nephew Michael Miller and family, several cousins, her dear friend Mariellen Schwartz, and her feisty black cat, Ellie Arrandale.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, September 20th from 5-7pm at The View Community Center in Grandview. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a donation in Cathie’s name to benefit ReDiscover Mental Health.
