Catherine P. McNicholas, 99, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Homewood at Plum Creek with her loving family by her side.  

Born November 16, 1923, in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Edgar A. and Margaret (Doran) Patterson. Catherine “Katie” was the loving wife of the late Richard “Dick” W. McNicholas, with whom she shared thirty-nine years of marriage until his passing in 1985.  

Katie retired from the Department of Education in Howard County, MD where she was an administrative assistant for over twenty years.

Playing Ma-Jong with other Ma-Jong athletes at Homewood, scooping up her winnings at Bingo, and dining with her friends at Windows were just a few of the many activities Katie enjoyed at Homewood. She also had an uncanny knack for interior decorating and being able to pick the cutest shoes at Clarks.

Katie is survived by her children, Richard P. McNicholas of Bremerton, WA, and Kathleen Ferguson of Littlestown, PA; and Kathleen’s husband, Gary, two grandchildren, Chris and Ryan; one grand-daughter in law, Brandi, and one great-grandchild, Mac.

A funeral service to celebrate and remember Katie will be held 11:00AM, Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at the Kenworthy Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with Pastor Jeff Shull officiating. Burial will be at 2 PM, Tuesday, May 16, 2023 in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2150 Mt View Road, Marriottsville, MD. A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00AM, Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Katie to Hanover VNA.
