Catherine's obituary
Catherine Kelly, affectionately known by family as "CATHA-REEN," was born on April 10, 1942, in Clinton, Louisiana to Minnie Donahue Johnson and Samuel Johnson.
Catherine moved to Baton Rouge where she retired in 2017 from her primary job as a housekeeper. Outside of work, she spent most of her time raising her family, being a primary caregiver to her disabled husband, and engaging in her ministry as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She was always known for her self- sacrificing love and support of others. Catherine often went without to make sure that those around her were well cared for.
She is remembered as a loving wife, sister, & mother – someone who raised not only her children, but also her cherished niece as one of her own. Her hobbies included fishing, cooking, watching football, FISHING, gardening, more FISHING, and singing off-key to her favorite songs - despite not memorizing a single word. But no love was greater than the love she had for Jehovah, whom she dedicated her life to in 1982. She enjoyed being a part of Baton Rouge North Congregation which she considered her home congregation, even after moving to Texas due ongoing health challenges.
Left to cherish Catherine's memory is her son Michael Johnson, her two daughters Miranda Williams and Angela Kelly, niece Kimberly Johnson: sisters Martha Johnson and Dorothy-Mae Johnson, nephew Glen Robertson and niece Martha Ann Smith, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Eddie-Lee and Angela Kelly, four grandchildren Shanita Reed, Travis Johnson, Chayton & Miran Williams, and son-in-law, Charles Williams. Catherine also leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and loving friends.
Lastly, she is preceded in death by her husband Emile "Leroy" Kelly, son David Johnson, parents named above, and ten siblings: Leana Deloch, Henry Johnson, Robert Johnson, Samuel "Dabby" Johnson Jr., Gracie Washington, twins Flora Bailey and Florence Johnson, Blanche Johnson, Bernard Johnson Sr., and her youngest brother Williams "Leroy" Johnson.
