  • How we met;
  • LET ME TELL YOU A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HER.   LIKE HOW WE MET.

I HAD JUST GOTTEN OUT OF THE MARINE CORPS AND WENT BACK TO THE

ARCHITECTS OFFICE IN PHILADELPHIA WHERE I HAD WORKED DURING

SUMMERS WHILE I WAS IN COLLEGE. THEY SAID A JOB WOULD BE WAITING

FOR ME WHEN I CAME BACK FROM THE MARINES. TURNED OUT THERE WAS

MORE THAN JUST A JOB WAITING FOR ME - BECAUSE WHEN I OPENED THE

FRONT DOOR OF THE OFFICE, THERE SHE WAS SITTING AT THE RECEPTIONIST

DESK. AS SOON AS OUR EYES MET, I IMMEDIATELY HAD THAT FEELING - SHE

    WAS THE ONE.

ONE DAY WE WERE JUST CHATTING AND SHE ASKED ME WHERE I WENT TO

COLLEGE - AND IF I HAD A GIRLFRIEND. I TOLD HER I WENT TO KANSAS STATE

UNIVERSITY IN MANHATTAN KANSAS, AND THAT I HAD PLANNED ON FINDING

ME A MANHATTAN GIRL WHILE THERE TO BRING HOME WITH ME, BUT I NEVER

DID FIND ONE. THEN SHE SAYS "WELL, I WAS BORN IN MANHATTAN KANSAS".

I SAID WHAT ?? REALLY??? SHE SAID - YEAH, MY DAD OWNED A CATTLE

    AUCTION RANCH THERE.

WELL, THAT SEALED THE DEAL - I FOUND MY MANHATTAN KANSAS GIRL

EVEN IF IT WAS IN PHILADELPHIA.

WE WERE MARRIED ABOUT 6 MONTHS LATER.

We will always remember Lu’s spunk, spontaneity and energy and will miss her jaunts up our driveway on her spiffed out cart, just to talk story and drop off her onolicious baked goods. She was fearless and the sparkle in her eye as she spun around the neighborhood in her cart – sometimes with George – always made us chuckle! We enjoyed every minute we were privileged to spend with her – whether at their home sharing vacation photos or watching a movie in our home. We feel blessed to have known her even for such a short time.
Vyjadrujem úmprimnú sústrasť Georgovi, deťom Carl a Joe.

Thank you for the memories my precious friend, Lu.  My first trip to Paris with you was a dream of a lifetime, all our years at the CCC, and all our travels together with George and Precious.

Lu was a unique and precious friend and will be missed tremendously.

At Lucille's Mountain Top Inn — with Me, my sweet Lu and George with their sweet fur baby!
I'm just so heartbroken and miss my sweet Lu so very much! My thoughts and prayers for peace of mind and comfort are with you all.  Love, Whisper

To George, Karl, and Joy,

Saddened to hear of the passing of Lucille. We will always remember her bright smile and sparkling personality.

We send our deepest sympathy to all.

Love,

Jane and Lou Leposa

While on her way up the hill in her golf cart,  Lu was always gracious with a twist of sarcasm and I enjoyed conversing with her and her dogs, even though i didn't have much time to get to know her better.  My condolences to George and family.  May she rest in peace.

Lucille and I met through our parents. Our dads worked at the Cities Service refinery and were fishing buddies. Our moms met through our dads and they, too, became good friends. Then Lucille and I met. So it really was a family affair.

I loved Lucille’s personality! When I think of her, I think of laughter and fun. She could always make me laugh. Maybe that’s why this is so hard. Thinking of Lucille with sadness doesn’t make sense.

In time, the pain will lessen and we will all be left with our wonderful happy memories of her.

Thank you, Lucille, for leaving us with such an amazing gift. Your joyful spirit will live on in all of us until we see your smiling face again.

RIP dear friend.

Love to her precious family.

  • Lucille “Lu” has been my friend for many years. We grew up a couple of blocks away from each other in a small town in Louisiana. We each married our husbands a week apart. We both were married in February 50 years ago. We have kept in touch over the years with each other & we’re both very happy to hear about each other’s growing families. I was always very impressed with how positive Lucille was and how she always kept busy and was always thinking of something good to make or do. She didn’t let her health problems get her down or keep her from doing things she wanted to do like cooking new dishes, entertaining or making some kind of knitting creation. She liked people and was very outgoing and friendly. She was very talented. She would keep busy with games on her computer or reading all kinds of good books. I will miss her very much! I will always remember the talks we had and the beautiful views and rainbows from her front porch that  I was able to see when she invited me to come for a visit to Hawaii. I will keep Lucille and her family in my prayers because I know that they will miss her very much too!

Lu’s energy and enthusiasm will be missed!!  Her tours of the neighborhood and the wonderful baked treats she shared with us made us feel very welcome in the neighborhood. Rest in peace Lovely Lu.

Words are speechless as she was my beautiful best friend. We would talk for a long time on the phone and shared our love for reading the same books. Constantly communicating through emails. George and Lucinda are the only ones I felt comfortable sleeping over at there house. She didn't even need my help. So independent and always  ok happy and positive. I miss you so much, but know you flying now and enjoying your new life. I love you and  miss you so much my bff! Forever, and alway!
