Cathy's obituary
Catherine Mari Floyd
Sept. 13, 1957- April 20, 2024
Catherine Mari Floyd, formally known as Catherine Ellen Mari, age 66, of Twin Falls, ID, passed away on Saturday, April 20th 2024, surrounded by loved ones, family and friends alike. She was born in Palo Alto, CA on September 13th 1957 to her beloved parents David Max Mari and Mary Ellen Truxaw. Cathy lived in Palo Alto, CA until she was 3 years of age, then the family moved to Anaheim where she would spend most of her childhood. Cathy graduated from Dana Hills High School with Honors and multiple scholarship offers. She then accepted an offer from UCLA where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree with a Major in Italian and a Minor in Sociology.
Cathy accomplished so many amazing things in her life, it created a rainbow of awe behind her for all to see. She was a world traveler and visited Europe, Italy, Hong-Kong, Turkey, Bahamas, many places in the US such as Washington DC, Alaska, Hawaii, and mostly everywhere in California worth visiting. These are just a few to name on her lengthy list of travels. Cathy lived her life to the fullest and gave her heart and soul to her family and her community.
On September 4th, 1982, Catherine Ellen Mari married Kenneth Ray Floyd, SR. becoming Catherine Mari Floyd. Ken already had 2 teenage boys, so Cathy became not only an adoring wife, but an amazing bonus mom. The Floyd’s resided in Granite Bay, CA until 1998, then made the big move to Twin Falls, Idaho where they found their forever home overlooking the Snake River Canyon. Their house already had the perfect view, now it just needed the special touch of a home that only Cathy could bring. With a lot of hard work and patience they transformed a house on the canyon rim, to a beautiful home enriched by gatherings of family and friends over the years.
Cathy was such an accomplished woman, words simply do not do her justice, but here are a few of her highlights. She worked at and eventually ran her own travel agency. Cathy was able to share her love of travel in the form of a guide, as well as, set up personal travel for her to go on trips with family and friends. She wore many hats for CASA, a children’s advocate program, which could not have been more near and dear to her heart. Any charity cause for that matter and she would be right there, ready to support in any way she could. Cathy also did all the behind the scene work for her husband’s company, Web Specialties. On top of all that she was a devoted Nini, which was her spin on an Italian grandmother. All the grandchildren called her that, because she was much too young to be a grandmother. She was the best all-around person and anyone who had the privilege to know her will forever be changed for the better.
She is preceded in death by her parents David Max Mari and Mary Ellen Brosnan and her brother John. Her Husband Kenneth Floyd, Sr. and her step-son Robert Floyd. As well as her beloved pets Sadie, Nellie, Max, Bella and Yeller.
She is survived by her siblings Jim, Jan, Joanne, Christy and Ed. Her step-son Kenneth Floyd, Jr.. Her grandchildren Meagan, Joshua, Emma, Breanna, Jayde, Kenny C., and Tessa. Also by her great-grandchildren Jay D’M, Sawyer, Reagan, and Luca.
A private “Celebration of Life” will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fifth District CASA Program “Court Appointed Special Advocates” for children, P.O. Box 2918 Twin Falls, ID 83303.
Cathy Floyd, signing off. Thank you and have a good night.
