Catherine Harris (nee Newsome) passed away peacefully on December 10, 2023 at the age of 96. Catherine was born on October 9, 1927 to Elise Mitchell and Albert Newsome in Baltimore City, Maryland. Catherine spent most of her life in her beloved hometown of Baltimore, a community she was happy to call home. After Catherine completed school at Frederick Douglass High School she went on to be a licensed practical nurse (LPN). In 1946, Catherine met Booker Harris while riding the bus home after work one evening. Catherine and Booker married, and went on to have 3 children: Cheryl, Wanda, and Glen Harris.

In 1968, Catherine retired and spent her time as an active member in her local church, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. She spent her wonderful life spreading love, joy, sarcasm, and sass to any and all around her.

Catherine was predeceased by her husband Booker, brother Claxton, and two daughters Cheryl, and Wanda. She is survived by her son Glen, her 5 grandchildren Erica, Michelle, Morgan, Jonathan, and Courtney, her 9 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

Services will be held at Howell Funeral Home located at 4600 Liberty Heights Avenue in Gwynn Oak, Maryland on January 13, 2024 at 2:00pm.
