I am so sorry to hear about Cath. We shared a couple of places in London in the late 1970s/early 80s and I have such great memories of her and Dave. I later saw them in New Jersey when I was living in Washington. We lost touch though - for which I’m now kicking myself. My condolences to Allan, Stephen and their families( if rather belated).

Not really a memory, Catherine, but you are in my thoughts.

I have lots of memories of Catherine. I vividly remember the day we attempted to drive to Nottingham University, aged about 16, in my three wheeler Robin Reliant. It was snowing heavily, and eventually we turned back. When we arrived back home my mum was hysterical. She was so relieved that we had turned back. She made Catherine a huge breakfast of bacon and egg, which Catherine happily devoured.
When I was about 15, Catherine introduced me to The Prophet, by Kahil Gibran. I had never read anything so profound and beautiful.
I also remember Catherine helping me to make a Piperade, at University. Was that the first time I ever used garlic?
I think Catherine was the first friend with whom I ever had deep and meaningful conversations. She looked so fragile and ethereal, and at times seemed to lack confidence, but she had such depth of personality. I was always slightly in awe of her intelligence and individuality.
I will always remember her as unique, a little bit of an enigma.

I am so very saddened by the news about Catherine! She was a co-author as well as editor for my books. I met Dave whilst visiting Catherine at their home. I lost touch with her a few years ago and am sorry to hear about her passing. She leaves a great legacy in the library world for all the books she helped find their way into the hands of librarians.

Catherine was a major part of my professional life but ultimately she and Dave became treasured friends. I worked at Bogart & Barr for 15 years after working with her the prior 5. She graciously hosted my family in NJ and NY. She also spent some time with mine in PA. I am very saddened to learn of her passing. I miss her and her ability to make me laugh. She also taught me a lot and was very supportive. I am grateful for her friends and neighbors who've helped her in the years since the loss of Dave. My sincere condolences to her close friends, to Allan, Stephen, and the rest of her family -- Christine McNaull

I hadn’t heard anything from Catherine from some time, and knew she was not in good health, but am really sad to read this news today. Catherine was such good fun. She joined us at school and quickly became one of our close group of friends. She always had that slight air of mystery to her; she was the “American girl”, even though she wasn’t. I have happy memories of visiting her lovely home in Whaley Bridge. Catherine loved learning French, like I did, and we both went to Nottingham University together. After graduating, we lost touch, but then, many years later, contacted each other via the Manchester High School Old Girls society. We began to email each other and shared many thoughts and ideas. Catherine’s niece and my daughter began corresponding and stayed in touch for many years. A huge thrill for me was when we met up with Catherine and Dave in Sacketts Harbour for a lovely meal. We did hope to meet Catherine again in Chester, a few years later, with the rest of our old school group, but, sadly, she wasn’t able to make it. Catherine had such a sharp mind and wonderful sense of humour. She was sensitive and very caring. There was always something delicate and fragile about her, but she had an inner strength and determination. I send my belated, but very sincere condolences to all Catherine’s family.

I am so sorry to hear of Catherine’s passing. I worked with her during her time at Bowker Publishing and she and Dave became our close friends when they lived in New Jersey. Catherine had a wonderful sense of humor and she will be greatly missed.
