It is with great sadness that the family of Cassandra Lynn Long announce her passing on January 6, 2022 at 56 years of age.

Cassie is a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She will be lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 33 years, William Thomas Long; children: Anna Holaway (Nick), Neal Long, and Sarah Kelley (Austin), one grandson, Nathan Holaway and a granddaughter to come, Blake Sandra Holaway, a sister: Kemberly Howell (Craig)as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

Cassie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Anita Siler Gatlin of Sharpsville, IN.

Cassie was born on Fort Huachuca Army Base in Arizona on September 13, 1965. She received a B.S. degree in Child and Family Services from Purdue University where she met her husband, William. She also received a Master’s degree in Teaching from Indiana University, Kokomo. Cassie had a passion for working with children and their families. She followed her passion as a social worker for the state of Michigan and Indiana, inspired numerous middle and high school students working as a teacher and tutor in Howard and Tipton County, and dedicated time as a developmental therapist for central Indiana First Steps program until she was no longer able to work. Cassie also volunteered her time as a tee-ball and soccer coach, a Girl Scout leader, and worked as a bible study teacher in the Fairview Baptist Church for her children.

The family would like to thank Viaquest hospice care and their staff for their care in last 5 years of Cassie’s life. Although Cassie faced many health issues in the last decade of her life, she faced every day with courage and grace. Her faith and walk with her Lord only continued to grow stronger during this time.

A Memorial Service will be held on January 16, 2022 at Fairview Baptist Church, 2108 E Vaile Ave, Kokomo, IN 46901, with visitation from 2-4pm and the service following at 4pm. The service can be viewed virtual at Fairview Church’s youtube page, https://youtu.be/CXuPPhmmkJY
