Cassie and I were close friends when we were 13 years old. I searched for her, hoping to reconnect, and found this page.

Cassie was the realest, truest friend. She didn’t care what the other girls were doing, and I so admire that, because I did. One day in sixth grade she came to school with a mark on her forehead - it was from the curling iron! She was experimenting with her hair even then.

Didn’t she have the most amazing freckles? And the softest hair? One of our mutual male friends once referred to her as a ‘sexy librarian’. I think it was because of her glasses, or her pencil case. Either way, I have to admit that I agreed.

It brings a smile to my face to think of how loyal Cassie was. She let me know when my 7th grade ‘boyfriend’ was flirting with my ‘best friend’ in math class. She definitely had my back!

I can still hear her giggle, her laugh, even after all these years. I think of her as a cuddly person. Maybe it was from a sleepover, or maybe from her love for cats. I loved spending time with Cassie & Lori and wished I had a relationship like theirs. It was special, and so was she.

It makes me so sad to think of how devastated you, her family must be. I hope you are able to feel her presence and receive her signs and I hope they bring you comfort and peace.

I think about you more than you would think I do, Cassie. I still carry a few of your trinkets with me when I travel and your playlist forever be a favorite of mine.

To Cassie’s family, specifically her Mother, I’m sorry for not reaching out (short story: lost my phone and your contact info 😖), but would love to hear from you and stay in contact:

I just learned of Cassandra’s Passing last night. Truly breaks my heart. We met in 2013 and became fast hula hooping friends in Raleigh. I went to her apartment a few times and we’d hoop together for hours. Sweet sweet soul. I’ll cherish our memories. Rest in peace.🤍

She was one of the sweetest people I've met. We shared many great times, running and being silly, when she was in Asheville. Always thoughtful conversations. Sincerely missed.

I am not active on social media, so i just learned about this. I am not certain you are still looking at this or get updates from it. Cassie was a good friend, a far better friend to me to be sure. We used to talk a lot when we got out of CBK. I still have a photo of me wearing cassie’s shoes as a goof on my facebook.

I am so sorry for your loss, and how the world has lost something good from her passing.

With love and sympathy,

I just learned about this from logging into Facebook for the first time in years. I attended Carlbrook with Cass. She was like a sister to me and someone I admired deeply. We once performed a song, “Drive” by Incubus together for the school. She sang and I played guitar and harmonized with her. We kept in touch over the years with little conversations and check ins here and there. We both often spoke of depression and mental illness. The last conversation is dated August 7th 2018 where she told me she taught herself to play Drive on ukulele and how that would always remind her of me.  We caught up on life and not being happy in Minnesota. Every conversation with her made me want to save her from being unhappy. She was someone I had always loved from the moment I first saw her. Our final topic of conversation was about buying a new car and she mentioned something about a VW GTI and I had responded that it is actually my dream car and I always wanted one. This May I finally bought that car… I am now capable of taking that road trip to see her. Devastated

My only regret was it wasn't recorded.  I can't imagine anyone out there did that for me?

My heart is so sorry for your loss and ours and joyful for the light and friend your daughter Cassie has been.  Our daughters met at college and they shared so many things- cats, hats, love and laughter.  We send love and will hold your family and Cassie in the light.

Mark, Lori & Troy and family,

We are deeply saddened for you and so sorry for the loss of Cassie in this world.  This platform of sharing and heartfelt emotions expressed certainly reinforces the significant impact she made in many peoples lives.

I’d like to close with the latter half of Psalm 121 by King David…”G-d is your Guardian, G-d is your Shade at your right hand.  By day the sun will not harm you, nor the moon by night.  G-d will Protect you from every evil, he will Guard your soul.  G-d will Guard your Departure and your Arrival, from this time and Forever.”

Cassandra was a true friend to me. We shared many adventures together during our years working together in Wilderness Therapy in the North Carolina Mountains. She had the heart of an artist for sure. She was also one of the kindest, most loving people I ever had the honor of knowing. Like many people she knew, Cassandra brightened up my life. I miss her dearly. I pray for everyone missing her right now and I pray she is at peace.
