Forgive me using English,  this is difficult enough without resorting to Danish.  I got to know Carsten through the Guide Share Europe (GSE) User Group for the Nordics.  He was great to work with and bounce ideas off of.  I remember one occasion, whilst on a planning meeting in Stockholm, my manger from the UK badgering me to get some work done for her before she went home.  There was a break in the planning meeting, where participants were going for a walk to get fresh air and refresh the mind.  I said I'll stay here and get some work done.  As the room emptied,  Carsten said "we go to the bar" - I responded,  "no really, I have to get this done for my manager", "oh"...  20 minutes later he returned, "now you come to the bar?",  "maybe later, I need to finish this"... 5 minutes later, Carsten returns with 2 beers, and places one on the table where I am working - "this will help you finish".   This gesture was typical of my experience of Carsten, a caring sensitive character.  I will miss you, and send my thoughts to your family.  I hope the photo convey the love that the UK team had for you.

I had the pleasure of working with Carsten in GSE Nordic for many years.

He had great passion for food and drink, his work and the work we did for GSE Nordic.

It was always good to get his big hugs when we met up for meetings and conferences.

He was always engaged in the meetings and when we had discussion.

I enjoyed having talks with him and listen to his experience and stories.

He will be missed.

I knew Carsten through attending the GSE Nordic conference for many years. He worked with passion and energy for technology and shared the best of Nordic hospitality with people from all around the world.

I'm thankful for the memories. He will be missed.

May he rest in peace

Covid.

Kjeld Jul Madsen, former partner in Mangaard Travel Group, and for 30 years (1989 – 2019) being travel organizer for GSE Nordic Region.

Carsten was a very friendly and helpful person, and I will always remember him and his humor and contagious laughter.

During the years we traveled together at least twice a year to planning meetings and to the GSE Nordic Region conferences in the Nordic countries, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark as well as in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Carsten was “Food and Beverage” manager at the conferences. He knew all about good food and vines, and he was very prof. and very helpful to me choosing the right menus and vines for the meals during the conferences.

This task caused many enjoyable conversations together with Carsten.

We both retired from above at same time in June 2019, but afterwards we still met.

The picture is from 2020, when Carsten, Svenn-Aage Sønderskov and I met, having a dinner together in Aarhus. It was a very enjoyable and memorable evening.

I’ll miss him and wish, may Carsten rest in peace.

Carsten was in integral part of  GSE Nordic, where he was the Webmaster of the GSE Nordic Website and he served GSE Nordic as Chairman of the Application Development and CICS Working Groups.

Carsten was  a very kind, social and helpful friend, whom you could rely on and he spent a lot of his time on supporting the people around him, and whenever a party was on, you could rely on Carsten.

I will miss him a lot

May he rest in peace

It is with great sadness that I was informed of Carstens Early Death.

May he rest in Peace
