Carreen's obituary

Carreen Savoie, 61, of Grass Valley, passed away on September 20, 2022 after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Carreen was born in 1961 to Garrett and Charlotte Dittmar in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The Dittmar family relocated in 1970 to southern CA. After graduating from Brea high school in 1979, she went on to study French and Communications at Cal Lutheran University.

After graduation, she landed her first job as an analyst for Pleasant Hawaiian Holidays. Carreen met her soon to be husband, Scott Savoie, at Cal Lu and they were married on April 14, 1984, going on to have 3 children, John, Landon, and Jacob Savoie. Carreen was a proud "stay at home Mom," until her boys entered high school, and then spent 19 years at Magnolia Intermediate School in Grass Valley as a Teacher's Aid. After retiring, Carreen spent her time RVing, traveling, sewing, crafting, wine tasting, cooking, gardening, and being a proud grandmother.

Carreen was predeceased by her parents, Garrett and Chalotte Dittmar, and her brother, Chris Dittmar. She is survived by her husband, Scott, her sons and their wives, John and Dana Savoie, Landon and Maribeth Savoie, and Jacob Savoie. Carreen had two grandchildren as well, Leo and Annabelle Savoie. Also survived by her brother and sister in law, Bob and Leanne Pastene, nieces, Allie and Lindsay Pastene, and nephew, Jason Pastene. She will be remembered as a caring, smart, funny, creative, and an over-all wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, and friend. We miss you so much!
