Carolyn's obituary
Born in Fairfield, Connecticut, Mrs. Shea was the daughter of the late Alfred and Gladys (Beers) Anderson and the spouse of the late James Shea. She was a graduate of Willimantic State Teachers College. She spent many years teaching in Lawrence, Massachusetts and touched the lives of many students in the community through her love of teaching. An avid crafter, mostly sewing, knitting and crocheting, she spent much of her free time making gifts for those she loved and donating to many others.
Carolyn will be sorely missed by her loving children; Christopher J. Shea and his wife Katharine A. Higgins-Shea of Belchertown, and Alyson C. Gilberg and her husband Lieutenant Colonel Jeffrey A. Gilberg of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. Carolyn’s biggest love in life was her grandchildren, Ava and Ryan Shea of Belchertown, MA and Evelyn, Jacob and James (JR) Gilberg of Ft. Campbell, KY. If you knew Carolyn, you know how smart Ava is, how talented Evelyn is, how funny Ryan is, how determined JR is and how sweet Jacob is. She beamed when she spoke of her grandchildren. They were her world.
Mrs. Carolyn Shea was laid to rest on April 17, 2020 at West Parish cemetery in Andover, MA in a private service with family. A memorial service will be arranged at a later time to celebrate her life. Donations in Carolyn’s memory may be made to Massachusetts COVID-19 Relief Fund at https://www.macovid19relieffu…
