Carolyn's obituary
Carolyn L. Dixson was born in September 1952, in Miami, Florida and she passed on March 29, 2022, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Carolyn was the daughter of Ella Elizabeth Dunn and John Franklin Dixson.
She attended St. Thomas Aquinas High School, where she participated in Choral, Drama, Pep Club, and S.O.U.L., graduating in 1970 and then continued her education at Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana where she received her Bachelor's degree in Social Work in 1974.
While at Dillard University, Carolyn became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority in 1972 as a part of the Beta Epsilon chapter on campus. She later continued her studies to receive credentials in Library Science which would become her lifelong field of interest.
Carolyn worked her entire career with the Broward County Library serving the community for more than 33 years as a Reference Librarian, where she loved to help people find information within the Library system. She especially loved helping her Uncle Randy, who appreciated her expertise in research. She was also a dedicated voting poll worker in Broward County for many years.
Upon her retirement, she became an avid traveler to places such as California, Hawaii, and Alaska, along with international travel to Cuba and the Caribbean which were among some of her favorite destinations.
Carolyn adored animals and her love of animals meant she always had pets that she cared for, such as her dogs Bella, Bear, Dayla, and her cat Emily plus many other pets during her lifetime.
All her pets led loving and happy lives.
Carolyn had a strong faith and was an active member of New Jerusalem Church, in Hollywood, Florida, and was a faithful choir member for many years.
She is loved and cherished and will be with us in our hearts forever.
She is survived by her sister Tracey Mañón, her niece Isabella Mañón.
She is also survived by her Aunt, Barbara Dunn Cooke,

Shelley Reeves and daughter Taylor
Valerie & Rudolph Rhodes and sons Xavier, Montgomery, and Quint
Deborah & Derrick Jackson and daughters Jessica, Jasmine, and Jorrie
and her Godparents Benjamin & Becky Williams.
She also leaves behind many friends.
She was preceded by her grandparents Ozell and Marguerite Dunn, her parents Ella Elizabeth Dunn and John Franklin Dixson, and her uncle Randolph Cooke.
She is and will always be missed and we will carry her memory forever in our hearts.
