Today we gather to remember and celebrate someone whose spirit could never be contained — our dear Caroline.

Caroline was a free spirit in every sense of the word. She had a heart that craved adventure, a laugh that carried across the wind, and a soul that seemed to dance wherever life took her. She never stayed still for long — not because she was restless, but because she saw life as something meant to be lived fully, joyfully, and without hesitation.

I Remember fishing with Aunt Caroline. Whether she was catching fish or not she was always enjoying the moment.I also had the pleasure of going on a motorcycle ride with Aunt Caroline and Uncle Doug. They had us clinging on tight as we rode through the rolling hills of North Carolina, wind whipping through our hair, her voice carrying over the hum of the engine saying, “Isn’t this beautiful?”

That was Caroline — always reminding us to look around, to feel the moment, to see the beauty that’s so easy to miss when life gets busy. She taught us that adventure isn’t just about where you go — it’s about how you live, and who you share it with.

Even in stillness, Caroline’s light was bright. Her kindness, her laughter, her courage to be herself — those are gifts she leaves with all of us. And though our hearts ache with her absence, we can almost hear her now, urging us to keep exploring, keep laughing, keep living with that same fearless joy she carried every day.

So today, we say goodbye not to her spirit — because that’s something too wild and beautiful to ever fade — but to the moments we shared. And we hold tight to the memories, the love, and the lessons she gave us so freely.

Ride on, Caroline. The hills are waiting, and we’ll meet you again down the road.

A cousin is your first friend and that was certainly true with Christina and Caroline, Cathy and me .

We celebrated every holiday and every birthday together. We often traveled to West Islip or they came to Old Bridge. We even had dogs that were brother and sister, Snoopy and Cindy. We went on vacations together to Canada and Germany. We always had a lot of fun and alot of laughs together.

We all went our separate ways pretty early, in our 20s, Christina to Florida, Caroline to Texas, Alaska and North Carolina and Cathy to Boston. I stayed in New Jersey. But we all stayed in touch with each other and remained close.

It wasn't until Caroline and Doug moved to Florida that I was able to see them again after many years and it was always great to see Caroline's beautiful smile and hear her laughter again.

We talked alot about our faith and believing in God's plan. We shared prayers, Scripture and Christian songs we both loved to listen to many times over the phone and via texting. She told me a few months ago that she was afraid to die. And I said "what's there to be afraid of.. we know where we're going". But I think she was afraid of what she was leaving behind. Her loving husband, her father, her sister, her fathers dog Ushie. Caroline was always one to take care of others and if she was gone, who would take care of them.

When I close my eyes, I picture Caroline in the loving embrace of our Lord Jesus and also with those she loved and who loved her who were waiting for her with their arms open wide...her mom, her grandparents, my dad and my husband Kevin. Give them all a big hug and a kiss from me, Caroline. We all love you and will miss you terribly.

Your loving cousin and sister in Christ, Rini

Caroline, I watched the sunri…
Caroline, I watched the sunrise today in your memory even though I know you had a better view!! You loved the beach and I loved you!!

I was so sorry to hear about Caroline's passing. She was such a kind person and had such a contagious smile. I worked with her, and she was always there for me or anyone. She used to call me her Carolina girl. God blessed me by putting her in my life. She will forever be in my heart and mind.

Psalm34:18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirt.

Caroline and I have been close since High School. We would talk on the phone all these years. Luckily we got to see eachother twice in past few years. Doug my heart is with you. What a caring and devoted husband you are.  I'm so sorry not to be able to attend her service. Please know Caroline and you will always be a part of me,  and I will visit soon. Much love always, ❤️🫂🦋🐸 Claudia Martin

Caroline truly was a joy.  To be mentioned in her obituary is a true honor, her strength and advice when I was ill was such a help,  even when she was feeling much worse than I! The memories I have of the 2 Lange sisters and the 2 NY Kuhnhold sisters in matching dresses are priceless and the photos even better.  She will be greatly missed. With lots of love,  Cathy.  And thank you Doug, your posted photos are fabulous!

In Loving Memory of our Dear Friend

It’s hard to put into words what it feels like to lose someone who was part of your life’s foundation a true childhood friend. Even though time and distance came between us, reconnecting recently felt like no time had passed at all. Her voice, her spirit, her faith all still as genuine and full of light as I remembered.

When we spoke, she shared her pain and exhaustion with such grace, still holding on to her faith, still trusting in the Lord’s plan. That kind of strength, even in suffering, says everything about the woman she was.

To her husband, Doug my deepest respect and condolences. Your love and care gave her peace and comfort through her journey.

And to her father no words can ease the pain of losing a daughter, but please know she left this world knowing she was loved, remembered, and never forgotten.

May her soul find rest, her spirit rise in glory, and her memory continue to bless everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

We will all miss you.

Your childhood friend from West Islip.
