Carole Rose's obituary

Carole Rose Lewis age 74 passed on January 2, 2021. She was best known by family and friends as “CalRose." Carole Rose was born to the late Reverend Dike and Durie Mae Yarbrough in Akerman, Mississippi and was the seventh of 8 siblings (Pauline Anderson, Vernon (Sonny) Yarbrough, Billy Jean Massey, David Yarbrough, Bobbi McHenry, Sammy Yarbrough, Doris (Chunky) Sourles and Dorothy (Dottie) Bushey), whom welcomed her with open arms into the Kingdom of God. She leaves behind her youngest brother Michael “Mikey” Yarbrough who resides in St. Paul, Minnesota. Carole Rose was baptized as a young child and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in the Church of God in Christ in St. Paul, Minnesota. In the early 60’s, Carole Rose fell in love with Kenny Dwight Lewis and recently celebrated 55 years of marriage, December 23, 2020. The two share four beautiful children, Shondale (Lungen, son in-law) Howard from Grayson, Georgia, Tamara Sumpter living in Los Angeles, California, Kenneth “Todd” Lewis Applebaum residing in Buena Park, California and Kyle Lewis currently living in Seattle, Washington. Carole Rose also leaves four Grand-children; Te-Quoya Tammika Stewart, Kenneth Sterling Lewis-Applebaum, Kennedy Lewis-Applebaum, and Paris Sumpter, three Great-Grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews, along with a host of in-laws among many loving friends. In 1983, Carole Rose and Kenny relocated to Honolulu, Hawaii and lived there 3 years before moving back to the mainland and taking up residence in Los Angeles, California. After much traveling around the world (Australia, Caribbean Islands, Mexico, Hawaiian Islands and many US cities) and seeing some of God’s most beautiful and greatest creations, Carole and Kenny decided to move again, this time to Las Vegas, Nevada, then Seattle, Washington; while only making their way back to Las Vegas, Nevada in which was her final resting place she called home. Carole Rose had a passion for learning, teaching Montessori school in St. Paul and Minneapolis and eventually owned a medical transcribing business. After relocating to California, Carole Rose became an exceptional medical transcriptionist in which she owned and operated her own business in the Greater Los Angeles area as well. For those who really knew Carole Rose, she did not meet a stranger. Carole Rose just enjoyed people and it was infectious because she came from a large community in St. Paul, Minnesota that was rich in love, family, friends and support. May you rest in peace with loving and treasured memories.
