C. Jeanine's obituary
Carole J. “Jeanine” Hufford, age 64, of New Carlisle, OH, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 12, 2025, in her home surrounded by family. She was born in Salem, OH, on July 1, 1961.
She is preceded in death by her father, Charles “Rusty” Tomlinson. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Herbert Jr.; children, Herbert III (Jennifer) Hufford, Benjamin (Shelby) Hufford, and Andrew (Jillian) Hufford; grandchild, Nora; mother, Catherine Tomlinson; siblings, Pamela (Chris) Gallagher, Fred (Lisa) Tomlinson, and Loretta Mikel; and many nieces and nephews.
Jeanine graduated from Kent State University with a degree in Communication and was a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. After meeting at Kent State, Herb and Jeanine married on January 28th, 1984 at Carriage Hill Farm. She completed her Master's in Public Administration at the University of Dayton while raising three young boys. For over 30 years, Jeanine was committed to serving others through philanthropic work. She spent several years in management with the American Red Cross and the Mathile Family Foundation, as part of the IAMS company, furthering their mission of supporting those in need. Afterward, she owned J. Hufford Consulting, where she assisted women in managing their philanthropic efforts and helped nonprofits with their grant distribution programs. Before retiring, she was the Executive Director of the Cancer Support Community of Western Ohio.
Jeanine was a vibrant, warm, and caring wife, mother, granny, aunt, and friend. Growing up, one of her most proud accomplishments was being elected Grand Worthy Advisor of the Rainbow Girls. Within the community, she faithfully served as the Church Council President at Arise in Christ Lutheran Church in Donnelsville. Throughout her life, she enjoyed nature, music, showtunes, swimming, and sewing. Most of all, Jeanine loved her years spent living on Mason Jar Farm with its space and comfort.
Jeanine faced an early and difficult diagnosis of Alzheimer's with faith, understanding, and laughter, along with the unwavering love and care of her husband. We warmly thank all the family, friends, and caregivers who were part of her journey.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 2 at the Chapel on the Lane in Dayton, OH from 12 PM to 4 PM. We invite family and friends to join us for a memorial prayer service with time to share stories of Jeanine, followed by fellowship to enjoy food, music and each other.
In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that you donate in Jeanine’s name to the Five Rivers MetroParks Foundation in support of Carriage Hill MetroPark. Donations may be made online at http://weblink.donorperfect.c… or by mail at 409 E Monument Ave., Third Fl, Dayton, OH 45402.
