Carol's obituary
Carol Vomacka, 76, of Port Saint Lucie, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2023
with Bruce, her husband of 58 years, at her side.
Carol and Bruce were high school sweethearts in Sarasota and were married in 1965 a year after she had graduated. By then she was already a licensed beautician and managing the beauty shop she worked at.
The couple moved west to Las Vegas for Bruce’s job in 1971, and Carol went into banking, becoming a bank officer and an auditor. In 1985 she left to assist Bruce with the business they founded, Las Vegas Pest Control, which by that time was one of the largest pest control companies in Nevada. They traveled to many places internationally, and her favorites were Africa and Australia. There was also loads of jeeping and motorhome camping especially in the deserts and mountains of Utah Arizona, and Nevada.
When they retired (at 42!) in 1989 there was lots more time for travel. They also took up flyfishing – saltwater in Florida in the winter and trout throughout the Rockies in the summer. This made a lot of motorhome travel – 60 trips across the country!
Until ALS reared its ugly head 8 months before her passing, Carol was in excellent health. She had no children, and is survived by her husband and her brother Dennis.
She wanted no funeral or ceremony, but that those who knew her pause, and (perhaps with a libation?), reflect on her at her lively best. The best times were outside – with friends on a patio or around a campfire. She was certainly known for her sense of humor, usually expressed by teasing and busting someone’s chops (no one was immune). It was a life well lived, and she knew it and appreciated all of it.
