Carol's obituary

Carol Lauch Snyder, a beloved mother, twin sister, wife, teacher, and cherished member of the community, passed away on March 29th, 2023, at the age of 81 surrounded by her family.

Born on March 18th, 1942, in Beaver Falls, PA, Carol spent her entire life making a positive impact on those around her with her warm, loving, caring, considerate, and helpful personality.  Carol graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1960 before going on to earn her degree from Geneva College in 1964. She began her teaching career in Pennsylvania  and then in New York, before moving to Columbia, Maryland to begin her family.  After taking time off to raise her two children, Carol came back to the classroom at Longfellow Elementary, where she spent 25 years as a Paraprofessional.  As a dedicated teacher and paraprofessional, Carol devoted her career to shaping the minds and hearts of countless students, leaving a lasting legacy of excellence in education.

A woman of many talents, Carol had a passion for crafts, particularly making pine cone wreaths and seashell wreaths. Her creativity and love for all things handmade shone brightly in every piece she created. In addition to her love for crafts, Carol found solace and joy in gardening, nurturing the earth and cultivating an enviable oasis of plants, and vegetables. She also loved to travel, experiencing the world's many wonders and forging countless memories with family and friends along the way.    Carol's dedication and love to support her children was seen in her extensive involvement as PTA president, room mom, and event organizer, and Brownie leader.  She continued to support her community as the swim team manager, and the unofficial stat collector at all basketball games.  She supported both children, never missing a sporting event.  Carol's love for college basketball was intense.  Each year she couldn't wait for March Madness and hope that her favorite team, Duke and Coach K would end up in the finals.  When she wasn't watching basketball, you could always find Carol curled up with a book.  She will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family, her students, and her community. Carol's warm, loving, and nurturing spirit will be deeply missed, but her memory and the impact she had on the lives of so many will live on. Carol is survived by her two loving children, Amy (Charlie) Thorne  and David Snyder, who were her pride and joy, her twin brother, William C. (Judy Lauch) Lauch , and her grandson Tannor Snyder.

Carol did not want a funeral service, so in lieu of flowers donations may be given to Gilchrist Center Howard County, a nonprofit hospice, gilchristcares.org.
