Carol's obituary
Carol Simpson, age 75, of Fort Worth, TX passed away on April 20, 2023. Carol is survived by her sister, Lyster Connell, her daughter and son-in-law, Janna and Jim Wilhoit, son and daughter-in-law, Matt and Brandi Simpson, grandchildren, Marisa Tipton, Star and Jorge Cortez, River Simpson, Meadow Simpson, Rebecca Wilhoit, and Allison Wilhoit. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Sebastian and Aniya, nephews, Nicholas and Mikah Connell, her beloved cousins, and countless friends.
Carol grew up in Weatherford, TX where she attended high school and served as the editor for the Weatherford High School newspaper. Carol was known for her no-nonsense attitude and her fast car. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from UTA and was nothing short of a mathmagician. Carol was fascinated by philosophy, psychology, and theology. Carol was a bibliophile and could always be spotted with a sci-fi or fantasy novel tucked in her pocketbook. She was also a talented writer who penned countless poems, songs, and even a novel. Her creative talents were boundless.
Carol single-handedly raised two ornery children who both grew up to be successful well-adjusted adults, much to her surprise. She was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren.
When you walked into Carol’s house you would be met with aromas of whatever new exotic recipe she was experimenting with, and her eclectic mix of music such as Harry Belafonte, the Violent Femmes, and opera filled the air.
In life, Carol was essentially a fish. She loved the water and spent most of her retirement in the pool. She loved teaching her grandchildren to swim and would spend hours playing with them splashing about.
Shortly before her death, Carol proclaimed that she would return as a bird in her next life. The family encourages her loved ones to put out birdfeed and watch for her to visit. If you knew Carol you will probably recognize her as a bird…she will be the one hitting the window to get your attention.
