Carol's obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Carol (Buck) Metcalf, who passed away on June 10, 2024. Born on March 20, 1950, Carol lived a fulfilling life and was a source of joy and laughter to all who knew her.

Carol leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship. She is survived by her sons, Robert and James Metcalf, her sister, Kay Erickson, and her beloved grandsons, Justice Gonda, Ryan Metcalf, Connor Metcalf, and her great-grandson, Juniper Gonda. Her long-time friend, Betty DeWalle, was a sister in all but blood, and her niece Becky was often mistaken as Carol’s daughter.

Carol was the youngest of nine children. She was predeceased by her parents, Hugh and Mildred (Joerger) Buck, her brothers, Harry, Paul, Thomas, and Richard Buck, and her sisters, Norma Buck, Margaret Krambeer, and Mary Horsfall.

Few that met Carol remained strangers for long, as she was prone to chat and befriend anyone who happened to sit near her, or who stood in line with her. She loved scary movies and mystery novels, she loved baking, and most of all she loved children.

Carol will be deeply missed, but her openness and easy laugh will be carried forever in our hearts.
