Carol's obituary

Carol Jolin Kubis passed away on January 30, 2022. Carol was taken from us suddenly, as her beautiful heart suffered a heart attack that Sunday morning. She was 67.

Carol Jolin was born on October 20, 1954 to parents Harold Jolin and Martha Rudolph and lived in Edgeley, North Dakota. There, she attended school, helped on the farm, and all the while practiced piano. Carol went on to study music at Jamestown College, playing piano as well as becoming a staple in the choir, traveling the world and performing at venues such as the Notre Dame in Paris. Carol had tremendous talent as a piano player and vocalist. She had a rich, warm voice with a seemingly endless range, and the gift of perfect pitch.

After graduation, Carol went on the road with various bands where she traveled the US playing piano and singing. On the final night of their tour at a Holiday Inn in Pennsylvania, Bobby Vinton happened to stop by the room they were playing and was stunned by her immense talent. Shortly after, he called her and she toured as piano player and vocalist for the next 12 years. With Bobby, she traveled the world, doing long runs in Vegas and performing on television specials like the Merv Griffin Show. Carol exhibited a level of perfectionism each night that only she could uphold. Carol was truly as good as it gets.

In 1987, Carol met Tom Kubis on the road and sparks instantly flew! They shared a love for music, humor, baseball, and cats that they continued to share for the next 32 years. They were happily married in 1989, had a daughter, Nicole in 1991, and bought a beautiful home in Huntington Beach in 1993.

Carol loved all of her many cats, hosting gatherings, crossword puzzles, growing tomato plants, playing games on her iPad, supporting her husband and daughter, and being a loving friend to all musicians and everyone around her.

Carol was predeceased by her parents Harold and Martha. Carol is survived by Aunt, Hulda; Brothers, Kenneth and Steven; Husband Tom; Stepson, Jon; and her daughter, Nicole.

She will be missed by so many more than words can say, and we know she is now singing among the angels
