One of my favorite things we did together was to start the Facebook group Drumming  With Standing Rock. After this idea came to her in meditation she called me up and it was immediately done.

Carol Hansen Grey was a gentle, radiant presence—so sweet, kind, thoughtful, and deeply intelligent. Her spirit carried a quiet strength and a generous warmth that touched everyone who had the privilege of working alongside her. At Gather the Women Global Matrix, she wasn’t just a contributor—she was a beloved soul whose grace and wisdom helped shape the heart of our community. Her absence is felt profoundly by those of us who came to know and love her, and her legacy continues to ripple through our work and relationships.

I first met Carol when I was invited to assist her with the Gather the Women website. From the very beginning, she welcomed me with such openness and encouragement. She patiently guided me through the intricacies of our website development tool, always making space for my questions and ideas. Carol had a way of teaching that felt more like a collaboration—she listened deeply, responded generously, and made me feel not only capable but truly valued.

Her openness to new suggestions and her willingness to evolve the site’s design reflected her broader commitment to inclusivity and spiritual resonance. Working with her was never just about technology, it was about weaving connection, clarity, and care into every corner of our digital presence. I learned so much from her, especially about how to lead with humility and heart.

Carol’s memory continues to inspire me. Her legacy lives on in the way we hold space for one another, in the thoughtful language we choose, and in the quiet, powerful ways we steward our collective vision. She is missed, deeply and dearly.

2020, Via zoom with the Motherline anthology project

We were a team of five working on writing an anthology about the women who began Gather the Women and WOVA.

Carol was the mastermind who did the publishing part and the platform and format.

Dawn was our “fearless “ leader, Teresa and Tami did all the interviews and I was the one who cleaned up the stories-I am not a professional editor.

Just before Carol died she and I ended up alone on a zoom call and she had a need to get some worries off her heart.

She said she was having a hard time sleeping because she was so worried about her friend Jean and couldn’t risk another stroke so she wanted help sorting out what to do for Jean.

I offered to jump in and be Jean’s caregiver so we could take that worry off her heart.

She asked me to send her my resume so she could share it with Jean and if she liked my resume we would meet up on zoom.

Carol loved my resume and that seemed to resolve this problem in her mind.

She went on to download everything on her heart that day and on the following zoom .

She was so grateful and said that the next zoom would be about me.

When I texted her to see if we were still on Victor responded letting me know that she had a heart attack. I stayed in touch with him throughout her last days offering to come there when she came home to help take care of her but that never happened. I grew to love her for being so open and honest with me. I miss her so much!!
