Carol's obituary

God came and touched an angel here on earth by the name of Carol Anderson Carter Richardson on March 11, 2024, at the age of 63.

Carol was born January 28, 1961, in Peoria, IL. She is the daughter of the late Ivy G. Anderson Smith and James E. Anderson. She was the eldest of her surviving siblings Dommie (Fred) Lee, Devonee (Morris) Davis, James “Jawain” Anderson and Anjela Anderson.

She had a wonderful childhood in Peoria, IL where she went to Lincoln and Tyng elementary, Trewyn Junior High and Manual High School. She attended Western IL University where she met some beautiful friends and pledged to AKA sorority in October 1982. She achieved a B.S. from Metropolitan State University and M.S. from St. Thomas University. She moved to St. Paul, MN in June 1984 to take care of her beloved grandmother Martha Stacy. She worked as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and retired as a school coordinator from the St. Paul School System in 2019.

Carol was united in matrimony to late husband Ernest Lee Carter in 1998. This union was blessed with two children Kendall Anderson and Kyara Anderson Carter. She later married Henry Richardson in 2016.

She leaves to cherish her memory Henry J. Richardson, Kendall Jermaine Anderson, Kiara Anderson Carter, grandson Kavion O. Carey, siblings Dommie, Devonee, Jawain and Anjela, bonus mother Shirley Anderson, bonus father Luke (Gloria) Smith Jr., special goddaughters DeLisa Hurt, Breayonna Dopson, Ciara Dunkins, Kianna Suttles, and Jataysha Carter, a very special niece Daxdarail Broadway, three sister-cousins Janet Radford, Lisa Allison, and Susan Page, two sorority sisters and ships for 41 years Sherry Randle Hardin and Ann Hannah Fagan, sisters-in-love Cozetta McGowan and Shirley Wilson, special friends Lisa Hurt and DelShea Perry along with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Services will be at 12 p.m. on Friday, March 22 at New Hope Baptist Church with visitation at 11 a.m. The Rev. Runny D. Patterson will officiate. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. Brooks Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association in honor of the deceased.
