Carol's obituary
On July 28, 2024, the world bid farewell to a remarkable woman, Carol Buddin "Barrett", who was born on December 26, 1944, in the small Welsh town of Penarth. A passionate, funny, and determined individual, her vibrant spirit touched everyone around her. Carol will be dearly missed but forever celebrated by the family and friends she leaves behind.
Carol is survived by an adoring family including her daughters, Dawn Newton and Tiffany McCarty, her son, Mark Newton, and her grandchildren, Julie and Jonathan Tomaiko, Shannon McCutcheon, and Thomas Newton. Her brother, Lance Smith, also survives her. Carol was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Valerie Smith, and her sister, Heather Nations. Each of them held a special place in her heart. Carol’s parents met while her father, a U.S. Navy Seabee during WWII, was stationed in Penarth. Her mother gave birth to a beautiful blonde baby girl in the same home she was born in. Her father returned from the battle of Normandy and took his new little family home to Houston, TX.
During the Vietnam War, Carol worked for NASA in Maryland and enjoyed being an important part of the team. In 1990, Carol embarked on a fulfilling career at Coldwell Banker where she made countless cherished relationships. Away from work, Carol had a penchant for home decorating, vibrant Mexican food, savored the occasional glass of wine, and was a big fan of Elvis Presley's music. She enjoyed watching captivating TV shows like Dallas, Dynasty, and Hotel, and her favorite films Being There, Arthur, The Changeling, and Terms of Endearment captivated her. Away from the screen, performances by George Strait held a special place in her heart.
Carol's enjoyments extended beyond food and entertainment. She was always excited to go shopping and plan vacations, with walking her dogs to the park being her favorite exercise activity. Galveston, Las Vegas, and Disney World were among her preferred getaway destinations. She had a deep affection for animals, supporting causes like the ASPCA, and helping homeless animals held special significance to her.
A Celebration of Life for Carol will be held on August 4, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at 1028 Timber Ln. Rosenberg , TX 77471. As we remember Carol, let's carry with us her humorous spirit, relentless determination, and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life.
Carol's spirit, her laughter, and her love will forever inhabit the hearts of the loved ones she leaves behind. While her physical presence is no more, her influence and impact on our lives will forever be a testament to the wonderful woman she was.
