Carol's obituary
Carol Anne Roegge was born in Pomeroy, Iowa. During her childhood she lived with her extended family on her grandmother’s farm. Farm life and its necessary chores were a great influence on her, giving her a practical outlook on life and a problem-solving spirit. After high school she attended Iowa State Teachers College before embarking on several years teaching elementary school in North Dakota, Missouri and Michigan. She moved to Chicago and became a reservations agent at Eastern Airlines. In 1956 she met her husband, David A. Bisson. They married in Chicago in 1957, lived briefly in New Jersey, and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where they raised their family, Dave Jr., Amy and Jim. They started a silk-screen printing business which eventually grew into a personalized Christmas card enterprise. In 1999, Carol and David moved to Chico, CA for the early years of their retirement, then moved to Shoreline, WA in 2006.
Carol’s career was primarily as a homemaker, a role she embraced with enthusiasm, love, and dedication. In addition to the traditional homemaking tasks, she took care of the yard and fearlessly tackled any and all home improvement projects. She was active in the San Mateo Junior Women’s League, PTA, Cub Scouts and their church. She loved to cook and frequently entertained friends for dinner and bridge. In retirement, Carol and David travelled extensively, both locally and internationally. Destinations included Europe, China, the Panama Canal and the Amazon River. Carol was a lifelong learner in the fullest sense. She was a prolific reader of all genres and never lost her interest for learning something new and becoming a better-informed person.
After David’s death in 2010, Carol moved to a senior apartment complex. She continued to live independently in her own apartment, cooking her own meals and managing her household. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be remembered for her kindness, intelligence, and determination. She is survived by her children, David Bisson, Jr., Jim Bisson, and Amy Stensrud (Eric), two grandchildren and many beloved friends and extended family. She was predeceased by her husband David and her sisters Eloise and Roberta.
