Carmen's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Carmen Vargas, who departed this life on October 29, 2023 at 7:39am. Born on March 4, 1931, Carmen, also known as Fanny, was a vivacious and strong woman who traveled solo in 1958 at the age of 27 to Boston, MA from Bogota, Colombia seeking adventure and a better life.
Carmen is survived by her loving daughters, Elizabeth Jenkins, Rosemary Vargas, and Diana DeRobertis and two beautiful grandchildren, Amanda Jenkins and Frankie DeRobertis Jr. Her daughters and grandchildren were amongst the proudest accomplishments of her life.
Carmen's zest for life was infectious and she loved parties and get-togethers. Her hobbies included playing dominoes and bingo, and she always enjoyed a good Broadway play. An avid traveler, her favorite vacation spots included Paris and the picturesque island of Capri, and she travelled around the globe to as far as Jerusalem and China.
Carmen was a force of nature, a woman with a lot of strength. Above all, Carmen was a woman who will be missed deeply by those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Her legacy will live on in the lives she touched and in the memories she leaves behind. We take comfort in knowing that her memory will continue to shine brightly in our minds and hearts, reminding us of the strong, fun-loving woman we were privileged to know and love. Rest in peace.
