Grammie's obituary
After retiring from being a teacher, she was a devoted stay-at-home grandma to her 22 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, many of them have fond memories of sitting on her lap in her rocking chair as she read to them or looking forward to a good authentic home made Mexican food.
Carmen and Frank loved to travel all over the world with Carmens friends from her church groups. They also were well known for their green thumbs and care of their rose garden. They even took charge of the rose garden at their church, St. Anthonys Church (Oxnard). Carmen was fondly referred to at church as The Head Cook. Their neighbors all appreciated the beauty of their roses as well. Many may remember Carmen from her daily walks through the neighborhood and sharing of her flowers and home grown fruits and vegetables.
Over the years Carmen helped many non family members whenever she saw a need. There were times when she would grocery shop for multiple families besides her own and visit friends in assisted living homes. She lovingly took care of he husband until she no longer could due to her rigorous dialysis treatments.
Carmen was predeceased by her sisters, Lupe Romero, and Eulalia Villa her brothers Ralph Romero, Tino Romero, and Thomas Romero. She is survived by her daughter Doll (Fred) Montijo, Eddie (Tina) Montanez, Thomas (Shirley) Montanez, and Ronnie (Cindy) Montanez, 4 Granddaughters and 5 Grandsons and 6 Great Grandchildren.
Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude and thanks to the Davita Dialysis clinic for the many years of amazing treatment and service to our beloved Carmen during her most difficult times of dialysis. We'd also like to thank our family friend, Julio, who enjoyed watching Jeopardy and sneaking her beloved Whopper with Cheese meal ( even though she knew she was not supposed to be having it ), and her beloved neighbors, Jose and Joe Amaro, who faithfully visited daily and who tended to her rose garden this past year.
Arrangements are under the direction of Reardon Funeral Home, Oxnard CA 93030.
