Carly's obituary

Carly is with Jesus now. She trusted Christ as her Saviour as a 5 year old girl at her Christian School, as the Bible says, "Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved", praise God.  Even through her great suffering, she held on to her belief that there is life after death through her faith in Jesus and expressed her desire to receive her glorified body and to be with the Lord.  She went to her home in heaven in the early hours of May 18th after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer, and that battle is now over. Carly can echo what God wrote through Paul in 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:"

No more wrestling with pain, no more cancer, no more pills, no more tears, no more doctor visits, and no more agony. She is in a much better place, walking streets of gold with Jesus, and enjoying the mansion he made for her. She is also reuniting with family and friends that went before her.

Thank you all for sharing in this journey of life with Carly and supporting her in your own unique way, as she likely did with many of you, as only she could. She will be greatly missed, but she left a big impression on countless children and adults over the years, and those ripples will continue to echo throughout our lives and into eternity. At times it may seem that such a vibrant, brilliant soul had so much more to offer this world, but she accomplished much with the 44 years the Lord gave her, as his ways are always best. Beautiful blessings will result from the life and the death of Carly Nicole Dalberg. Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Please carry a piece of her with you in your heart, and be a light in this world that needs people to care for others like she did.

Carly will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Chad, her mother, Sharon Germany, her Uncle Fred and Aunt Maryann Thompson, and her cousins Amber (Dan), Ashley, Nia (Angel), and Cheyenne, parents in-law Rick and Karen Foltz, siblings in-law Todd (Julie) and Tracy (Josh), and step-children, Alex, Samuel, and Katelyn, as well as countless students and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Germany Jr., her grandparents, Floyd and Juanita Thompson, and uncle Edward Thompson.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 24, at 6:00 p.m. at South Side Baptist Tabernacle, 6710 Textile Rd., Ypsilanti, Michigan 48197. A meal will be provided following the service.Carly was raised by her loving mother, Sharon, and the two shared a very close relationship throughout her life.  They did everything together and loved talking about all sorts of subjects.  She went to Willow Hill Baptist Christian School in Ohio for Elementary School and went to Cleveland Heights/University Heights Middle and High Schools.  She then went on to get her Bachelors in Telecommunications and Film from Eastern Michigan University, a Masters in Theatre Arts- Classical Performance at Wayne State University, and was working on her Masters in Education at the University of Michigan, but had to withdraw due to her health.  She loved acting and teaching, and always gave her excellent best for the Lord.  She received many honors, including becoming a member of the Actors' Equity Association, Outstanding Service as a Tutor, Academic Dean's list, and Best Actress by the Detroit Free Press and Wilde Award for acting.

A broad working experience followed Carly as she continued to act and teach.  She loved Shakespearean plays and was often the lead roll in plays like Macbeth, Antony and Cleopatra, Hamlet, and a Midsummer Night's Dream, along with countless others.  She performed in Cleveland at Dobama Theatre and the Cleveland Play House and Shakespeare Festival, at the Utah Shakespeare Festival, the Milwaukee Repertory Theater, and Hilberry Repertory Theatre in Detroit.

Her passion was helping young children learn and to encourage them in their unique gifts.  She was both a Substitute Teacher for most grades and an Adjunct Professor at Notre Dame College, John Carroll University, and Adrian College.  She truly loved being the Artistic Director for Shaker on Stage for youngsters that she taught acting and performing.  She was a Reading Specialist at Pittsfield Elementary and developed great relationships with each child and the staff.  It was her desire to have each one develop a love of reading.  It was Carly's heart-felt goal to have her own classroom teaching some grade between 1st and 4th someday.  Carly had a special way of letting each student know that they are fearfully and wonderfully made and that she genuinely cared about them as a person and took it upon herself to ensure their growth.  That sweet attitude was not limited to children, but family, friends, and strangers alike were uplifted by simple interactions with Carly.

Carly and Chad had known each other nearly 12 years and married for almost 8.  The things they enjoyed doing together included:  talking, discussing the day's activities and world events, reading, games, making meals, going for hikes and vacations, watching documentaries, and taking care of their dog, Charlotte.  They shared many beautiful experiences and endured some difficult times, but by God's grace, and dedication to one another, their marriage became sweeter and sweeter, right up to the very end.

Carly believed the following and held on to these promises throughout her walk, and especially in recent weeks.

2 Corinthians 5:6-8  Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)  We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Philippians 1:21  For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
